As far as live goes yeah - and it's a huge shame. The issue of the Wildhearts playing only the same old songs is well documented on this board, yet also seems to be making improving if the Xmas shows were anything to go by.

Studiowise however (and I know this is not what you were saying above) the Wildhearts produce albums that differ vastly from album to album (EN > TWMBD > S/T demonstrate this nicely). It would be good if the Live shows were more indicative of this.

Personally I can't wait to see him in Blackpool next week. First time I've seen an acoustic Ginger since Sunderland in 2003/4 - so I know full well that anything goes.

Gotta say, MH has really got me now. I was not at all convinced on first listen, but sticking with it has paid dividends. The turning point from 'great album' to 'awesome album' was something remarkably simple: I listened to it through headphones. It really is a stunning piece of work, and the musicianship and complexity of the production is staggering. If Ginger can keep up this standard.... :D  8)

And as regards the WH vs Ginger Solo debate...I don't listen to much of anything the WH did post EN except the last album, which I think is superb.

Just to add my comment too. Some of Gingers finest work to date on any of his projects in my opinion. It takes a while to sink in the first few times you hear it because you don't know which pieces of music are actually going to turn into full songs, but when you get used to it, you realise what a masterpiece it is.

I like the more mellow sound on a lot of the songs and I think the lo-fi production, be it intenional or not, actually makes it you listen more intently!

Negative points? That this isn't out on a major record label. Music of this quality should be heard by millions, not just the privelaged few on here!
