Gosforth Gathering

Postby kerswelld » 14th Jun 06, 20:45

Hi,

Are Ginger and his band of merry men playing at the Gosforth Gathering thing on August 5th? It's not in the list of Live shows on this website, but they're still listed on the Gosforth Gathering home page http://www.gosforthgathering.com/.

The reason I ask is that I'll be back home (in Newcastle) when that show is on, and it would be a bit good (to say the least) to see them play while I'm back.

Cheers,
Doug

My partner and I run the Sonic Circus myspace and street team, and we've had a definite yes from the guys.

Sadly, I can guess the reason and it ain't pretty. The big festivals sell out so quick now, leaving so many disappointed, that there's obviously room for events for the people who still want to go to something or other.

Unfortunately, every budding promoter had this idea at once. As soon I saw noticed that, I thought that a lot of people might lose a lot of money this year. So my guess is that the reason is our old friend 'ticket sales'. I could be wrong but it's a bit of a pattern emerging in events that get cancelled (Global Gathering) and even those that don't with 'big name' bands (Hi-Fi North and South)...

I couldn't be more gutted. To see buzzcocks, therapy? and sonic circus all on the same day would have been perfect.

On the website this morning;

GOSFORTH GATHERING 5th & 6th AUGUST 2006 - EVENT CANCELLED
We are sorry to announce that we (Tentrock Ltd), the event organisers have been forced to take the difficult decision of cancelling the event.

There are many factors that can determine the success or failure of an event such as this, but ultimately the largest single factor is ticket sales for the event. It is with this in mind that Tentrock Ltd have come to this decision.

It was the company's intention to give the North East a festival they could be proud of and one they deserve, bringing the very best musicians to the region. All the directors of Tentrock are from the area and felt strongly that a festival would be a great success; unfortunately, ticket sales have proven to be well below Tentrock's expectation levels.

As a direct result of continued poor ticket sales, the continued financial burden on the company would have proven to be too great and the directors have made the executive decision to save further embarrassment and ensure that all its financial responsibilities can be met.

Needless to say, Tentrock would like to offer their most sincere apologies for the inconvenience caused and know you will share in their massive feeling of disappointment over these events.

Details on how refunds can be claimed will follow here shortly.

Regards,
Tentrock Ltd

GOSFORTH GATHERING 5th & 6th AUGUST 2006 - EVENT CANCELLED

Tentrock Ltd regrets to announce that the company has had to take the difficult decision to go into voluntary liquidation following the cancellation of the Gosforth Gathering Music Festival.

It was always the intention of Tentrock Ltd to fulfil as many of its financial obligations as possible,
unfortunately the company will be unable to meet them all. It was the company's priority to issue as many full refunds to the general public as possible, the process of which is already underway.

The company has already met its limit with regards to these refunds; unfortunately no further refund
applications can be processed due to the understandable demand from the public already.

Tentrock Ltd would like to take this opportunity to apologise for the obvious inconvenience the event
cancellation has caused, the festival was intended to be an annual event that would benefit the region as a whole and it is a desperate disappointment to Tentrock Ltd that it has not succeeded.

Did anyone get money back? I didn't and I'm just a little    Why the hell should some get a full refund and others get nowt! Aren't they obliged to tell me who the liquidators are so I can get my name on the list of creditors even if there's nothing left to share out?

I'm not looking forward to asking mates for £30 each for tickets they didn't get.

Do you actually have the tickets or were they not delivered? If you do have them you can just take em to Steel Wheels in Newcastle and get them refunded there. Theyl ask you if you get them there so just say yes and theyl refund it. Worth a try anyway!

They never sent me any tickets. The website used to say "if you didn't get tickets we'll tell you later how to claim" which they must have known was never going to happen.

Oh well, supose I'll just have to chalk it up to experience and those are the thing we're living for right?

Same boat as you Annie, though the website did say that some tickets had not been sent out at all and they were working their way through them to send out refunds.

If I don't hear anything soon, I'll call in to the office at Blyth next time I'm through.

Now the message on their website says they have gone into voluntary liquidation.

Looks like we're shafted.
