Ginger gigs in New York again

Postby Jeeze » 10th Mar 08, 18:49

Hey kids, Hey cuties,

I'm playing New York.
Yeah, that's right....AGAIN!!!

Only this time it's again... and again, and again and...y'know

again

Every Thursday, beginning April 3rd, I'll be appearing at Piano's with the best players in New York. Only the creme de la soul will be playing, with myself, YOUR favourite songs from my huge stash of choons.
Okay, okay, I get to decide exactly which songs are your favourite songs, but that's besides the point.

I'll be playing crazed up versions of my (er, your) absolute toppest tracks from my catalogue with various musicians, using various styles, with various instruments, from people with various hair-cuts. Most likely different people every week. Depending on who's the best people for the job that week. Every week.

EVERY GOD DAMNED WEEK.....I tells ya.

On a Thursday.

Not only that, but I'll be presenting the absolute weirdest, most unique, odd-ball, bizarre and generally artistically essential of NYC talents on the bill. A different line up of talents every week.

On a Thursday.

From April 3rd.

Each bill will be rounded off with a colourful barrage of low-brow hi-jinx from New York's top comperes, MC's and orators, keeping the proceedings lively, sparky and warm.

An evening like this could only happen in New York. And only on a Thursday.

And only at Piano's.

Come with me on a journey of sonic and visual experimentation, where all tension will be jettisoned out on the sidewalk, and the remaining effervescence will permeate every pore and fibre of your fine persons, leaving you bathed in wonder, showered in amusement and douched with amazement.

Entertained? You will be.

Or your money back.

And we're not planning on parting with a penny.

Oh yes.

Oh, good God yes.

Be there, or be elsewhere.

And why would you be elsewhere?

That's right, you wouldn't.

Oh, no.

Oh, yes.

Amen
Ginger

Drat it. That's when I'm on holiday. On the opposite side of the world.
I wonder if my other half would notice if we changed planes in New York rather than Dubai?

douched - lol!

I just got this email today. Very interesting indeed. Sounds like it could bring a whole new meaning to the term "sonic circus" - I wonder if/how I will get back to New York for this. I'd rather sleep in the street than spend another $320 for a 12X12 hotel room but the cost of a trip there is not that much by train, bus, plane, or car. Convincing Amanda will be the toughest part... but on my side is the fact that it is multiple shows. Might be easier to justify going later in the spring.

There is no such thing as a hotel in NYC that is both good AND cheap.

The cheapest hotel I could find was not in a great location, was still $178/night, and had reviews that said "not fit for humans". The second cheapest was Hotel Pennsylvania, which was $320 a night for a 12X12 room with a well-below average bathroom in terms of size and cleanliness, and only a shower and no tub, and we took it since it was across the street from MSG/Penn Station.

Neither of those options are cheap OR good (hotel penn was adequate, however), and to get something good, you're paying significantly more, so it will be far from cheap.

There is no fast lane through. I know because I've been there more occasions than a few. Actually, just once, but I know quite well. :)

When my girl and I were in NYC a few years ago, we stayed at the Carlton Arms. Funky, though a bit dusty and ... special, but anyway, good location, nice people and most importantly affordable.

I think that'll be the British sense of humour.

I lived in Manchester (the English one) for four years and had a knife held to me twice in that time. I'm sure New York's a walk in the park compared to that. It's still number one on my holiday list if I can ever afford it...
