I get the feeling from reading the posts so far that this new album isnt exactly setting anyones world alight. I'm on my 4th listen and have yet to make an overall judgement.

Its different but for me there arent enough standout tracks yet compared to Valor and Yoni. And the whole American flavour just seems a bit sickly to me.

Never mnd, I'm going to stick with it. It took me a few weeks to get Yoni, now I think its mint.

I thought it was merely good until my 4th listen and now I adore it, 10 or so listens in. I prefer it these days when Ginger can regularly get off the WH leash and explore every multi-coloured corner of his considerable talent. The Wildies formula/sound can sometimes feel like its getting a little long in the tooth to me these days. He said from the safety of his bedroom, hundreds of miles away. :wink:

How do we get this nominated for the Mercury Award?!?!? In terms of an eclectic piece of British music from a lesser known source this has to come pretty high in meeting the criteria for those 'outside' nominees that always make the shortlist.

However, the main obstacle may be that it's a greasy pole with a shower of c*nts at top of it such as record execs and "music" journalists that won't give Market Harbour a chance as it doesn't meet their unwritten criteria of non-"rock" candidates (and before anyone corrects me on MH not being a rock album I am refering to those occasional heavier and prog-rock moments in it and solos that will send many trendy, blinkered musos running these days).

superb album - 5/5
every time you think Ginger is due a duff or average album he comes up with more gems.
this guy is soooo underated in the music world its untrue.
in kerrang they once said that only John Lennon was a better songwritter and i think they have got that spot on.
Ginger is a legend and he and the wildhearts deserve more recognition

This album is truly amazing. Ginger has upped his game and then some. The sheer quality of songwriting, the performance, everything just stands out. Incredibly, with an album so dense and so musical, he's also managed to retain his knack of writing memorable riffs and hooks. The programming/samples help add an extra dimension to the whole thing - "Soap Hammer" certainly surprised the hell out of me when I first heard it. Favourite songs? Actionette does it for me in a big arena-rock kind of way. House of Moths is probably my favourite song on the album, if not my favourite Ginger song. The song just oozes class and fits my mood perfectly at the moment. Love the way the whole album flows, and forces you to listen to it as an album as a whole, rather than a collection of songs (if that makes sense).

For me, this is Ginger's masterpiece, eclipsing PHUQ and Black Leather Mojo after all this time.

couple trouble

actually pretty much all of it except casino bay.

Havent had a chance to listen yet as its been delivered to a house I'm not currently at, but just downloaded a couple of the smaller songs on Itunes....and love that "A lil bit o' gravy" found its way into another song...

Yeah it's Lee Small. He also does a co-lead vocal with Vix (of Kix fame) on another track (which title evades me)

That's quite a relief to read, since I thought Casino Bay was really pretty dull.
