QUESTION AND ANSWER SESSION WITH GINGER!!!

Albums, singles, songs and general Ginger banter

Postby Col » 21st Jul 06, 19:15

Ok, wow, not sure if I should be offended by these posts or not??

Have I missed something, what's to be offended about?
The Q&A session's are real with Ginger. If you choose to believe they are not, that is your right, but I'm sure a few people can attest to the fact that they are real.

Who said it wasn't Ginger?
Why in the world would I invest so much time trying to help get the man recoginzed over here in the States and put things on this board for all his fans?
This saddens me.

Again, have I missed something, why are you making this statement?

Thank you Damian!

it's all about the love...of the great man and his music. I'm sure all those involved are old enough and wise enough to know what's what.

I just didn't want anyone to think that we were crazy and not legit.

In fact there are some really funny Q&A's coming.

Sara

and Col.... maybe I took Keith's post about Ginger not running his myspace page and the "finally some reality in this thread" as a dig to the Q&A thing...I dunno. Maybe I'm wrong and way off base...it does happen.

Huh?? I have never ever questioned whether Gigner ran his own MySpace site. There did seem to be some level of critiscm aimed at WildDan, which was well terminated by a post that I claimed brought back the reality to the thread i.e. ignoring the shite and focussing on the matter in hand....Ginger's Q&A. Sara, I apologise for the confusion......you're performing a sterling job with the Q&As......that was never in doubt.

Sincerely, Keith.

Thanks Keith.

I was confused....call it old age...call it being on the computer WAY too much.

PS...WD is doing a great job! I figure between him, Hannah, Michelle and I....the man is covered on myspace.

Now if he would only commit to playing my backyard B-B-Q. I think he may be easily lured with steak.

Right Keith.

The superfans all seem to get on well, and their individual knowledge, devotion, and hard work for the man is well understood.

Someone came onto this board slinging shite. It is obvious when that someone doesn't know what the fuck they are talking about.

More Answers to YOUR Questions!!!!

Tracy asks:
Being a fan of horror movies, do you ever read up on the true stories behind some of the most famous horror characters?

The story behind Dracula is quite fascinating and I personally would love to see Poienari Castle where he supposedly lived...have you ever been or is it something you would like to see? >>

Ginger: My favourite horror movies are usually stuff like zombies, monsters and fictional Japanese nutcases like Itchi:The Killer. Not much truth in those stories, just tons of blood.

Patch asks:
Did you write all the required 36 tracks for the 'Singles Club' project? And if you did, What were the other 18 Tracks that didn't appear on 'A Break In The Weather'? And if you can't be arsed listing them ( I know i wouldn't ) Have any been used else-where? >>

Ginger: Yeah, I wrote all the songs intended for that project, and yeah you're right, I can't be arsed to write down the other titles.

Callan (age 7) asks:

< Do you ever play on the playstation, if so, what games do you play on and have you ever played on Singstar?

Ginger: No, I hate Playstation!

Keith asks:
Typically, what types of guitar do you have at your disposal when recording an album? How do you decide on which one to play for any given track? Finally, what's your favorite guitar to play live with?

Ginger: I usually buy myself a new one for every album that I record. The one for the album I'm currently recording is a Deluxe Telecaster. It get's every sound I'm after on the new stuff.
Live, I go for something that feels good and sounds good. I think I'll be taking this new Tele out with me for sure.

Keith asks: Is there any chance that in the future you'll write and record an album of new material on purely an acoustic basis i.e. no electrically powered instruments?

Ginger: I already did that with Clam Abuse.

Wez asks:
Just wondering if you miss coming over to Belfast and having to put up with us crazy people and can you remember a conversation i had with you while i was well stoned...'every day is a brand new skateboard' ring any bells haha

Ginger: Haha, yes! For me, every day is a brand new guitar.
Yeah, I miss Belfast a lot. Wish it wasn't so hard to get gigs there.

Frank asks
: What does GTT stand for? ..m/

Ginger: Gone To Texas.

I believe the same team that runs the wildhearts webpage may have been running the myspace page at one time.

2. Ginger's myspace page at www.myspace.com/silverginger IS in fact Ginger himself. He took the page over from a friend who was running it sometime earlier this year. He even states that fact in the :"Ginger Says" at www.thewildhearts.com. He is now in charge of running his own page. Hence why the page is not updated frequently...he's not that HTML savvy.

Hi,

Just to add to this and clarify the situations with the MySpace's to the best of my knowledge. The Wildhearts Myspace was setup by Sammy - myself and the rest of the Wildhearts web team don't have access to this. I should probably pursue getting access however.

I setup the Ginger myspace last year and ran it through the period until Ginger 'discovered' it (as remarked upon in his Ginger Says piece). In the time after the release of VdC Ginger expressed an interest in accessing the myspace and has been pretty much running it himself. I probably ought to have nipped on and added the tourdates to it at somepoint, and will do in future, although we are ending up with quite a lot of duplication in posting tour dates (2 websites plus 2 myspaces)...

Hope that helps
Cheers

Fully understood Kris, you can always find details on one of the four sites about what;'s going on when a tour is announced, so there's no excuse for not knowing what's going on

As much as I appreciate Ginger taking time to answer these questions, I really have difficulty in reconciling Ginger's response to what I hear when I listen to "Stop Thinking". Can anyone help me here?.....

AFAIK from what was reported at the time, that was exactly what happened and it was recorded on acoustic guitars etc.. I don't think there was any restriction placed on the effects that could be used however, hence the sound.

Besides, I think Ginger must have a fairly loose definition of acoustic, based on the various guitars he's used on the acoustic tours, playing a semi-acoustic seems to have been the only nod towards 'acoustic'.

Yep, I guess you hit it on the head there Kris.....it's all down to definition. The definition of "acoustic" that I had in mind was pretty much the exact opposite of the sound of "Stop Thinking".

Cheers, Keith.

hit me baby one more time!

katie asks:

Have you ever had a stalker or obsessed fan? is so, how did/do you deal with it?

ginger

I usually ignore them and they go away, but there was this one Japanese girl that insisted we were boyfriend and girlfriend. She even sent a letter to my, then, girlfriend, informing her that we were in love.
I had to be a little more stern with my words on that occasion.

the force asks

If you could ask anyone a question, living or dead, who and what would it be?

ginger

Well, there was this cute girl I saw at one of our shows, and she was with a guy. I'd like to ask her what she's doing in her next life.

god of haircare asks

Kinda boring Question but I would just like to know "Where's your favourite place to play a gig?" I live in Scotland and every band always mentions that Scottish crowds are the best/loudest/most mental ever, are they just saying that or do these people really mean it? Do you like playing Scottish gigs?

ginger

I LOVE playing Scotland, especially Glasgow. I always feel at home there. I think my favourite place to play, so far anyway, is Japan tho'....it's such an alien place that you feel 'special' to be playing there.

Geordierussel asks

We all know that you have a love of country music, so is there any chance that someone like Jerry Douglas might end up on one of your up and coming disc playing the dobro?

Ginger

Who's Jerry Douglas?

Del asks

What was you most memorable concert experience?
Where haven't you played that you've always wanted to play (either city or venue or both)?
Favourite song to perform a) that you wrote, b) that
you didn't write.

Ginger

Most memorable, diving off the stage in Tokyo and having my clothes ripped off....and being pawed by a few hundred Japanese girls.

I always wanted to play South America. One day, hopefully, I'll get there. Australia too.

I'm loving playing Answering Machine (The Replacements) with GATSC, because it's such a beautiful song and you can get all your anger out singing it, or just lose yourself in the simplicity of the melody and the beauty of the lyrics.

Kelly asks

"What's going on with the Circle of Friends charity that you were involved in? Any news on that front? Also heard that you were gonna shave off your dreads for the cause. Any truth to that?"

Ginger

Yeah, we've been working on the charity, now called Ring Of Friends, and it should be registered and ready to rumble very soon. I'm working with some amazing people on setting it all up. I'm very proud to be involved in such an important venture.
The promise of the haircut still stands if that is what's needed for people to know that I'm very serious about this.

Col asks

What was it like working with Tracii Guns? .

Ginger A regrettable experience.

?

have you heard Randoms album of Zappa covers?

Ginger

Heard it, I might be releasing it. I am releasing the God Damn Whores album on Round Records....and I'm playing bass in the band too. Look out for up-coming gigs.

PD asks

Have you ever gotten your dreads caught in something and couldn't get them out without cutting them?

Ginger

Not yet.
