What to stop someone printing 40 copies of the ticket. They could easily alter it in photoshop or something similar. Seem a bit odd to me.

The venue has a list of names - The 'ticket' probably just looks similar to the normal confirmation email, and they match the names and maybe a code or something.

The Ginger gig at the Camden Barfly a couple of years back used it and it seemed to work OK.

I'm guessing you don't want me to get into the system where they text a barcode to your phone and you scan it across a reader at the entrance to the venue then? :?

Touts - hhmmm, maybe.i never thought of that side of it.but to be honest i can live with touts outside the gigs,it`s the rip off bastards on ebay that piss me off.i was looking at dylan tickets on there,£220 - £250 per pair,on average, going up to £400.guess i wont be going to see him anytime soon :( .

They're all touts. And it's harder to sell a bit of paper when the venue also wants to see ID.

We got tickets send you a code, not a ticket. You have to bring the code with you, but it doesn't have to be printed out - I usually save them into my phone so I can't forget it. Then you also have to show photo ID to prove you are the person who was issued that code. Any other people you buy tickets for are all down under your name so you have to all show up at the same time to get in. It works out a bit cheaper for everyone and I've used it for several gigs so far with no problems.

Well, I was almost right - I'd imagine most people just print out the email with the code on it though?

Ordered mine from see tickets and they still send tickets

my confirmation email says "Tickets will be despatched as soon as possible, but may not be received until the week of the event. If your tickets haven't arrived 48 hours before the event, please contact us."

Yeah, I used to print them out but they usually end up lost in a heap of paper on my desk. Or I pin them to the noticeboard and then forget to take them with me. Sometimes I've handed over my print out, but often I don't even get asked for the code, just the ID. Depends on the venue I guess! I was a bit nervous about whether it would work the first time but I think it's a good system now.

Also I really hate See tickets and their extortionate charges. Sometimes I've been charged as little as 40p booking fee (+ no postage, obviously) by We Got Tickets and that makes a refreshing change, as they say on't telly.

It means they probably won't post the tickets out until about a week before the gig - they word it like that to give themselves leeway when you haven't got them yet. Realistically, I think it's another way to try and defeat the touts - Less time between tickets arriving and gig means less time for touts to repost what they have bought in time.

Just looking on Laika Dog's myspaz page as I have never listened to their stuff (despite loving Terrorvision) and noticed that the tour dates are all up there .... plus 3 more additional ones that immediately follow Gingers. On clicking through to them it says "Playing with Ginger Wildheart.....Hmmmm? More playing alongside which sounds better"

The dates are
12 May 2009 20:00 Yard Bird Grimsby Grimsby, Northeast
13 May 2009 20:00 Ivory Blacks Glasgow Glasgow, Scotland
14 May 2009 20:00 Spring and Airbrake Belfast Belfast, Northern Ireland
Too many fucking bubbles man!

the googles are a great place on the internets
