Looking on google home page, and went to the 'extras' and did a 'blog search'. I usually look for Wildhearts by default to search with. Anyway found this...

http://jukebo.cx/archives/2008/02/06/wi ... solo-tour/

Anyone want to own up to it?

but once it was apparent that these monkeys could do nothing more than tap percussion ineffectually & look bewildered

Bit unfair that, gotta start somewhere.

This is Wildhearts/Ginger fandom, not Scientology. Last I heard, we were still allowed to voice our displeasure.

Yeah but no need to go for the jugular.

I'll give you that one. I can't stand the way people have to either love or hate every single thing.

I don't think it was fair for this douchebag to suggest that Ginger was no longer clean and sober, since he seems to have worked so hard at it. That was a low blow.

sounds and reads like the guy who wrote something very similar in the ginger forum.. obviously bitter!

Ouch, that was harsh.
Not having been at Worcester myself I can't pass judgement on that night, but I'm pretty sure that it wasn't *that* bad.

As for the "self-indulgent improvisation around extremely boring progressions" - I really liked those bits. I thought the 3 of them would make a rocking Ceilidh band.
And "even die-hard fans were staring agog in disgust" - really? All of them? Or does the reviewer just mean himself here? This may be a difference in opinion, but there's no reason to exaggerate.

Well it takes a really low person to take everything to such a personal level and accuse Ginger of being "off his face"

If that person is on this board you should be ashamed. False accusations and rumour mongering are uncalled for.

I can't believe that person is a member here, it's soo bloody negative, it's clearly written by someone who is not a Ginger/Wildheart fan

Why dosn't anyone who was there post their own revue? I couldn't make any of the recent acoustic shows so would like to know how they went.

Well it tends to be that extremity of opinion that usually provokes people into getting off their backsides and actually reporting on something.

I just read this. It doesn't strike me near as harsh as your replies here on the board. I can see the point he's making from his point-of-view. He was distracted by the audience members he says were onstage - mind you, he admitted it adds to a show to involve the audience; give him credit for that - and since those audience members were on stage so long, it made his concert experience unpleasant in relation to that. If Ginger came onstage and said it would be a "crap gig", it's because he's being honest, although I personally don't think performers should start a show saying so. (I am a performer.) His comments about Ginger looking bad were in the context of telling about Ginger's show itself, audience distraction aside. Logically, if Ginger starts a show saying it's a "crap gig", he's obviously having a bad day; that matches the "disinterested" comment. His overall message to Ginger is to respect the fans. I totally agree with that. This is a reflection of his experience at the show.

I don't know about everyone else but the way I read "and for a man who’s supposedly clean he looked/acted like he was off his face" impies something else. Throw in the word "supposedly" and it implies that he's fallen off the wagon, and what exactly does that have to do with anything? To me it's territory that isn't our business and has no place in his review.

This fan wants respect? Respect him back, he is a human after all.

And refering to the audience percussionists as monkeys? That's crap. How many of us have dreamed of getting onstage and playing with our idols? Most of us don't have the musical talent to ever realize that, but Ginger was gracious enough to share some stage space with his fans. Maybe it wasn't to this reviewers taste, but so what, respect your fellow fan as well.

totally agreeing with michelle . and as one of the monkeys , i think i can comment .. and the other monkeys were musically talented peoples ! but single percussion instruments do limit you a lil ...

there was other stuff . things were set up bad when ginger came on amongst other stuff .

i'm not gonna get mad into it . i am madly happy i got the chance to do that , and that anyone else who wanted coulda got up and done it

i think the response on there is more the true spirit of the old listees !

and i've never trusted reviews from people called martin . i would not be surprised if he went to lancaster uni and wanted money back cos his expectations of the second coming of the pixies weren't met . long story .
