Ginger solo album with guest vocalists- your thoughts?

I've not really been keeping up with all the twittering and youtube broadcasts etc so forgive me if I am way behind the times but I remember reading in another thread that Ginger is thinking of making a solo album where he doesn't sing on any of the songs?

Wondered what the opinions are on this idea? I think it will be interesting to have a number of guest vocalists on one album. If there was just one singer on a project, i spose it would depend on the singer really.

i would probably buy it and end up thinking i wonder what that would have sounded like with ginger doing vocals. maybe they could do it as a double - one disc guests, one disc ginger. i love his vocals so i don't reallly see the value in getting other singers in, but the man will do what the man will do as usual.

I think it's a nice idea

In the past Ginger's songs have been given an interesting twist with different vocalists e.g. Unlucky in love, Anthem, Siberian Angel and the great doo-wop one off Market Harbour. I think if he gets the right people in and maybe even calls in a few (semi) famous rock mates: Lemmy, Andy Cairns, Nicke Andersson, it could be a winner!

Who else does he know? I'm sure I read Dave Grohl was a fan somewhere, that would be cool.

I'd love to hear it. Think will be a good way of mixing things up a bit.

I'd love to hear the following sing with wor Ginge:

Eric Burdon
James Dean Bradfield
Lily Allen
Wu Tang Clan (yes seriously!)
Gwen Stefani
Frank Carter, of Gallows

and
Me - for purely selfish reasons

that would be a fucking ABOMINATION!!! i seriously couldn't tell you any gallows lyrics, all i hear when he sings is "LISTEN TO MY FACKIN' ACCENT, YOU FACKIN CAAAAHHNNNTS!!!"

if you're gonna go for a british singer from that kinda band, go for Tom Lacey from The Ghost of a Thousand.

my picks for vocalists would be

Devin Townsend
J. Robbins (Jawbox)
John Reis and Rick Froberg (a duet!)
Roddle Woomble (Idlewild)
Nick Cave
Paul Westerberg

It's Lee Small, formerly of Shy.

I always thought that was a guest vocalist, it doesn't sound like Ginger. I don't particularly like the vocal on that track much.

If we're talking fantasy guest vocalists I'd go with

Rivers Cuomo
Mike Patton
John Reis
Elvis Costello
Annika Norlin (Hello Saferide)
Evan Dando
Frank Black
Josh Homme
Jenny Lewis (Rilo Kiley)

i'll get shit for this, but i'd like to see another song in a bit of a "couple trouble" vein, with the vocalist from Maroon 5 singing...

...and something with Mike Patton!!!

surely thats not ginger singing the chorus of "perilous burden" or the main vocals of "regret.com" or "I knew you"

dont get me wrong I can hear his voice but I think another guy is way higher in the mix

Well he co-wrote Queen of Leaving and it sounds like Ginger and someone else singing it together, does that count as a lead vocal?
