Differences, Differences...

Not sure this is really going to end up as much of a thread, but whatever.

We all know that when it comes to pleasing and appreciating the fans, Ginger is pretty high up there on the list. He keeps us informed, writes and records great songs and plays gigs with great musicians. He knows The Wildhearts have somewhat of a cult following and regularly praises 'us' for our continued.

He has lots of fans in Japan, goes to play gigs there not because he 'has to' but presumably because he also wants to. Hell, we've seen videos where he's learnt 'a few' japanese words. He plays at festivals all over, usually seems to appreciate those he's playing for and with (can't think of any examples of the opposite) whatever the country or whatever size the crowd.

Compare and contrast to the clip of one of the Oasis brothers (fuck knows which of the cunts, the one who looks like a disabled hedgehog) on the itunes festival footage (wasn't watching it purposely, but flicked over) discussing what kind of gigs (stadium or intimate venue) he prefers. Obviously he says stadium. Anyway point is when talking about a gig in Germany he said something along the lines of..

"We played a gig in a small venue in Germany (I actually can't remember what city he said) to about 600 fans. I didn't even know we had 600 fans in Germany.they kept talking to us between songs It wasn't like a gig more like a Q&A session. All I wanted was for them to shut up, watch the gig, buy a tee shirt and fuck off"

He may have been trying to be funny (and failing) but I think that just about confirms even further that Oasis are utter dickheads.

The sad thing is, if both of the Gallaghers were killed in a car crash next week, we'd probably be told some shit about being dedicated to their fans, a great band, great songs and other bullshit. They'd probably even trot out some bollocks about consistently making good albums, which would obviously be a lie.

I'm so so glad to be a Wildhearts / Ginger fan. We get a regular supply of praise, gigs, humour, humility, HONESTY... and of course a consistent supply of genuinely fantastic albums released under various guises and with contributions to other similarly talented artists projects' to keep us entertained PRETTY much all year-round

Reminds me of years ago when (don't know if true) when both WH and Oasis were on Top Of The Pops at the same time and Liam Gallagher tried to 'stare out' Ginger backstage. The fucking Manc Tosser failed miserably. For me WH should be way bigger than Oasis.

I remember that WH/Oasis thing - weren't WH having a photo session in the BBC corridor or something and some Gallagher took umbrage with it?

Yeah, with Mark Keds for Just in Lust if I remember rightly. Oasis were taking the mick as they were having photos done for either Metal Hammer or Kerrang. They didn't exactly hit it off!

Oasis, love then or hate them are still simply not worth worrying about. They produce average music, at best, and i wish them no ills for it, i do have a little empathy though.

oasis haven't produced a single shit's worth of decent material in their whole career. if i were to encounter them in a situation where they might be aflame, i genuinely wouldn't waste my piss.
IF THERE'S A SOUND YOU PLAY THAT DOESN'T FIT TODAY,
WHY NOT JUST PLAY THE BASTARD ANYWAY?!

as I remember it
Both bands were on two weeks in a row
the first week Ginger had gone to say hello to Noel I think but was escorted out of the dressing room by the bodyguards, the week after during said photo shoot one of them shouted "nice straight backs now lads?" in reference to the wildhearts low strung guitar stance which then led to the "stare out"

well thats how I remember it being told
years of drink etc may have have clouded the story somewhat

That is pretty much exactly how it happened as I have the article from Raw right in front of me, I was gonna scan it for the thread in the wildhearts section but haven't got round to doing it yet; the story suggest Liam bottled it.

There is some praise for Oasis in the article though, the author writes - "Maybe it's a Mods vs rockers thing, but it's a shame because to the non-committed there's very little difference between the music of Oasis and The Wildhearts - Good lyrics, strong melodies, great guitars, true spirit, real commitment."
