Durr.maybe I should send out more bulletins! I would hate to think of anyone travelling all that way just to be stuck with whatever craptastic emo band replaces the TW!

Independent of the fact that the tour is cancelled, could 'normal' fans even get into the Austin show? I heard that you have to buy a $1000 industry pass to get into SXSW shows? Seemed unlikely, but I got that from someone in the area who wanted to go to shows in the past.

Very rich normal fans could walk up and pay $600 to see them.

But it's a very reasonable $425 if you book far enough in advance... :?

It's not too bad, I mean Reading's about 130 quid for 4 stages over 3 days :-

A SXSW Music badge gets you access to...

All SXSW Music Festival events

Over 60 stages for five nights with musical acts from around the globe (admission subject to venue capacity)

All SXSW Music Conference events

The SXSW Trade Show...the place to meet companies from around the world, have a refreshment and check out artists performing on the SXSW Day Stage

A SXSW Big Bag filled with magazines, CDs, swag, souvenirs

The SXSW Program Book/Registrants Directory

A subscription to SXSWorld Magazine valued at $20.

Plenty of opportunities to interact with your peers around the industry

And as it's primarily an industry jolly, most people won't buy their own passes anyway.

You don't need an expensive badge to get into the shows. I've seen the Wildhearts and the Backyard Babies multiple times, and only payed the cover charge at the door.

The Wildhearts are also still on the SXSW homepage saying the show is on. I'm going to Austin anyway, so its not like I'll be making a wasted trip. The WH's show would just be an added bonus.

EDIT: Just saw the sticky post on this site. Oh, well, Austin is still a blast and there are a few other great bands there to see. Chin up...

I'll be there all weekend. Plenty of gigs to see for free.
