"1992 - THE WILDHEARTS
Mick's last session work with another band was with The Wildhearts, an English band fusing punk, new wave and hard rock. Joining the group at London's Wessex Studios, he played a trademark, distinctive solo on "My Baby Is A Headfuck," one track of their album, Earth vs The Wild Hearts which was released in 1993. Fittingly, given the support that Mick had provided to young, new bands throughout his life, The Wildhearts dedicated their album to Mick. The January, 2007 issue of Guitarist magazine listed Earth vs The Wild Hearts as the #10 all-time best "underrated" guitar album of all time and cited Mick's contribution to it as a little known fact.
Interviewed by a Detroit newspaper during The Wildhearts' 2004 US tour, Ginger lamented Mick's loss, saying “Spiritually and creatively, the guy is an angel. It’s so sad that he’s gone from us, yet all these miserable bastards singing this nu-metal shit are still breathing. But there’s got to be a good reason for Mick to go, ’cause God is a Mick Ronson fan, there is no doubt about it.”
Ginger tells a bit about Mick's involvement on Earth vs The Wildhearts. Read it here."
"I - I've been told that there was some talk about him producing the album. Is this true? Why didn't it happen?
G - I heard some stories regarding his health and suitability for producing the album circulating around our record label at the time. I choose not to dwell on this kind of stuff. Suffice it to say he played on a song that wasn't going to make the album if he had declined!"
