Earth VS Comparisons and new album

New album is pretty good, but to say it is, as good as ,or even better than earth Vs ?

I don't think so!!!!

Earth Vs is still in my top 5 along side some fucking killer albums such as :
2.Alice/ Killer
3. Stones/let it bleed
4. Led Zep/ IV
5. Sabbath/ Vol 4

This album certainly ain't in that class, although the wildhearts are the only band i still get excited about !!!!

Having listened to thr new album at least 3-4 times a day since before the release day (got a promo copy)

i get the same feelings for this that i did when earth vs came out it gives me the same buzz...
It's hard to compare an album that's been around so long to an album that's been out a week but i really think this will stand the test of time..
My Favourite wildies albums in order would be :

EARTH VS - just blew me away and still does
THE WILDHEARTS - gets better with each listen
PHUQ - a killer follow up to a perfect debut
FISHING FOR LUCKIES - in all it's versions a taste of the wildies never tasted before
MUST BE DESTROYED - the wildies POP album,my favourite summer cruising album
DON'T WORRY BE HAPPY - quality tunes and a taste of what was to come
ENDLESS NAMELESS - still find this hard going but the tunes are still there somewhere

I always tend to find any new album is (generally) really good - its only a few weeks/months later I get a perspective on it. I thought VDC was better than Yoni (both excelent mind) but I played em both a few days back and I have to say I now prefer Yoni. So Im unsure of where TW will rank relative to "Earth Vs..." (which is my all time number 1). But it will be close, definately in the top 10.

Earth Vs... is from a different era in the history of WH. The new album is the sound of the band showing how much they have expanded since then. They have gone back to the pure hard rock of EvsWH but the music has more layers and emotions. WH have truly become the 'elder statesmen' of British rock. I think with this album (one which has pretty much gotten great reviews from critics & fans) the band have 100% confirmed their status as legends.

I think this album is the fucking balls.

My thoughts exactly. I wasn't too sure on first listen, but on the second I started hearing stuff I missed on my first rushed listen while I was busy doing other stuff. It's hard to compare something so new with albums I have listened to hundreds of times over the past ten or fifteen years, but this new one is definitely growing on me with each listen and leaving a bigger smile on my face each time...

'Yoni' was my album of the year so far before hearing 'The Wildhearts' - it still is, but that may change...

Have to say the album reminds me more of PHUQ than Earth Vs. Both albums have quite a sombre tone to me overall, with much more emphasis on heavy riffing than poppiness, yet still includes a few sing-a-long gems to keep things balanced. Like PHUQ, the lyrics seem to have taken on a darker tone too.

Maybe because of this, I've reacted to this one exactly the same way I did to PHUQ when it was released in that it took me a a while to take everything in. At first the sheer heaviness was slightly disarming, but after a few listens I began to relax into the melodies and appreciate the album as a whole. Like with PHUQ, I can see myself not being able to imagine the album without any of the songs in two or three weeks (Even She's All That... maybe)

Got to admit 'she's all that' was the weakest track for me on my first few days of listening, but now it's kinda fitting in to the album better and i'm enjoying it more

Great post matey. I pretty much totally agree, although depending upon my mood, PHUQ peaks earth vs. Let's face facts, look at the above portfolio...what other bands have come even close to treating their fans with such unrelenting brilliance?...And that's not even touching on the "B" sides.

Yeah that pretty much sums up what i think as well.

The only thing i'd add is that i get the feeling its more of a cross between PHUQ and the original FFL with some of the songs clocking in about 8 minutes long..kinda like the PHUQ they wanted to release on double cd..but on one....well i know what i mean anyway
