Inner City Overture Single cancelled

Postby Kyukyuichi » 4th Nov 08, 12:54

It's a shame news that ICO single (remixed version coupling with Zen Requiem & Borderline) for promotioning their Dec UK tour has been cancelled.

The original info from Round / Cargo is the following :

The band are touring the U.K. and appear at 3rd December / Sheffield Academy 4th Glasgow Barrowlands 5th Oxford Academy 1 6th Hard Rock Hell North Wales 7th Manchester Academy 8th Wolverhampton Civic Hall 10th Hammersmith Apollo London. The band will release “Inner City Overture” as a single in December

I really hope that the label will change their decision and reschedule the release date....

Could we have some links or more info please?

I can't find this info anywhere else. Nothing on the WH website.

First I've heard of it I cant' find anything either. If it's true I wonder if it's got anything to do with any of the moaning bastards round 'ere who say its one of the weakest tracks, personally I think it'd be a belter for a single.
Did you just say "Pig Flute"?

I spose you love every single song the band release do you? I seriously doubt cos 3 people have said they don't like it the release would be cancelled. I don't think they hold that much sway on the band's affairs.

Not at all I thought Beautiful Me Beautiful You was a bit pointless the way it just chugged along and I think you're being to defensive for a simple comment I made. Just for the recrod there's been more than three people comment about it being weak over time.

Well I thought the "moaning bastards" was a bit harsh. I don't think people should be referred to in that way just for simply disliking a Wildhearts track.

Im sure the majority of fans who take time to read a forum on the WIldhearts would have the album and get the single for b-sides anyway.

i have to agree, inner city overture is a bad idea for a single
releasing a single a year and a half after the album came out is a bit odd anyway

I am still interested in this "Remix" version as a fan even ICO is a weaker song on the album (still 10 times stronger tune than "She's On That" I personally think).

>i don't see why they don't just release those two as a double a-side non-album single.

I agree it and I originally suggested that it will be a good idea that these 2 unreleased songs as a bonus disc for "Live In The Studio" DVD initial issue. But the label wanted to release ICO with these 2 tracks instead.

Does it really matter? Nae fucker buys them anymore apart from a subset of existing Wildhearts fans anyway. And we already own the title track in some form anyway. So the singles sell for the sake of new b-sides that won't get an airing anywhere anyway. Anyway.

You could put out a Wildhearts A-side that consisted entirely of a 3-minute audio loop of Ginger kicking a detuned guitar through a greenhouse and it would sell as much as anything else they put out now provided it contained exclusive b-sides. I think.
