....how would you get the band to a wider audience, taking into consideration a limited budget??

Touring clubs in Europe and Scandinavia and sell the album at the venue! Bring with ém promo disc of "The New Flesh" radio-edit and video. Make sure media in each city recive discs. The promo should be packed in a cool and simple plastic "smiley bones" cover with tour and album info at the back.

Make sure to contact radio and TV in each city before tour, and send prmo discs. Visit as many radio/TV stations as possible.

Release a song or two for free on iTunes and use a pro-looking webpage to promote the releases as digital download. For a band like Wildhearts who writes a "billion" cool tunes per year, they can afford to release a couple of cool tracks for free downloading.

Use the "smiley bones" logo (or another cool design) as standard on all releases, t-shirts, posters etc.

Follow up the single with a new single and video. Could be an edited "Rooting for the bad guy" or "The Sweetest Song" or maybe "Revolution..."

IMO The Wildhearts´music sells itself. It´s just a matter of letting the people knowing that it exists. It´s not like you have to see them live before you understand they are a great band. Just let them hear the new album and many will be hooked.

Maybe.

Yeah.

In addition to all the above, I'd make sure they have tracks included on the free cd's that come with the likes of Rock Sound and Metal Hammer magazine.

Also, keep their website and myspace page as up to date as possible so that people can hear snippets of the songs that are out at the moment.

We don't need to keep hoping for Radio 1 airplay anymore!

Stickers and badges don’t cost that much to produce (in bulk) and they are a great way to let people know that the band are still around and have a new album out.

Also they could get involved with a promotional company like Wild or Traffic who organise street teams and things like that.....failing that we could organise a street team via us board members to hand out flyers and such in record stores/gig that we go to.

Every little helps!

I agree with everything above, street teams are used alot in the states (espec in the hiphop rap comunity) and i cant see why they cant work here. the web sites relly need to be on the ball as do we fans, advertise everywhere, message boards, Myspace annything. Get some full length samples up online, even if theyre only streaming and not d/loadable, flyers anything, this band deserves to be huge, and only we, the fans can make that happen. they need to get into magazines, and maybe onto the bills of some large UK/European?Usa festivals.

I'll prolly have more ideas when ive had some sleep, just worked 14 hours straight so brain a lil fuzzy...lol

Hey Im up for joining any street teams, also helping with Merch sales online if that helps.

Oh yeah, make thee album available thru this and the main website too, its gonna be where fans and prospective fans look first!

I was thinking about this today.

A token A/B/C list celeb girlfriend, or even boyfriend for that matter, would be a massive free pr shot for the band. Wonder if they have thought about this.

Ritch used to be married to Emma B back in the day. Shame the band weren't actually together at the time tho ... would it have done anything for their profile, do you reckon?

I thought she was married to that twat out of East17, y'know the one whoallegedly tried to run himself over after saying to the press "Arent E's brilliant!" or something along those lines
Did you just say "Pig Flute"?

Street team sounds like a good idea, I'd put myself forward for that.

One thing I would recommend to promote the new album is that the Wildhearts's official press team should respond to enquiries from regional media........

Just had a thought, anoither thing that they could do is put up a free download promotional cd, say feat a radio/single mix from one of the singles from each album, plus maybe an album track from previous albums along with The New Flesh (next single i believe) and say, sweetest song. Make it a free d/load that'll get attention, then get a copy of this promo cd to every radio station with a rock show on it, and if possible evey major live rock venue, that should hopefully get the attention of some new fans and maybe remind some of the older ones that the Wildhearts are still here!

Regional media enquiries should go through the band's regional press team. Any regional media wishing to organise radio or press interviews, etc. should go through 10 x Better in Newcastle. Contact Mark@10xbetter.com for regional radio enquiries or Cathy@10xbetter.com for regional press enquiries.

End of public service broadcast :)

Another idea too, why dont Rond Records get a myspace site set up to showcase all their releases, you know a track from, Ginger, Wildhearts, God Damn whores, Howling Willie, (poss cj if he's anything to do with Round(?). Plus again they could release a downloadable promo disc, feat, edited tracks of all there artists/release's.

Just an idea, hell id set up the myspace page on their behalf, if i get permission!
