On the Reading forum someone is claiming to have spoken to Ginger and he has confirmed that the 'Hearts have been booked....... for ONE UK festival this summer. No clue as to which one though.

I hope it's Reading cos i can't make Download this year *sniff!*

Well, the other two festivals they are doing are both much nearer the dates of the Reading/Leeds weekend than Download, so I would say it's Reading.....

I really really hope they make this happen as I already have tickets, and the organisers are promising more rock this year. In terms of whether it's a good booking for the Reading organisers - when they played in the tent in 2004, it was rammed, and I heard people afterwards talking about how great they were. And that was with loads of equipment malfunctions. And then there's the whole business that 1) they still record and 2) they still pack out venues (the Astoria date in December was brilliant by all accounts)...

It'll be amazing if this happens.

i don't wish to crush everyones hopes but i've just had a message from ginge an he said there's no truth in any rumours that the wildies are booked 4 any festivals this year. but (1) he cud be lying because aren't bands told to keep it quiet 'till fest organisers have announced it and (2) if they haven't been asked yet there's still loads of time

I am really hoping they get confirmed for Download, because it's now my favourite festival and I've already made sure I have the time booked off work before anyone else.
Although Leeds Fest would be good cos then I can be lazy and just hop on the bus there :) That said, Reading/Leeds festivals have really gone downhill in recent years imho. Not like the good old days! *grumble grumble*

Yup, last year the Reading line-up was poor, no diversity. This year, however, i think Festival Republic may actually be trying to bring in some more rock to balance out the NME driven indie drivel. Here's hoping!

I notice that Reading/Leeds festival will be the first in years it isn't sponsored by Carling. Not sure what effect this will have on the fest......

I have it on VERY good authority that this years Leeds/Reading headliners will be The Killers, Metallica and Rage Against The Machine. I've not heard anything about The Wildhearts been booked to play but I'll make some enquiries.
