Didn't make the meet-up, would have loved to catch up with the old faces (Christoph, Pat (you were in the balcony right above me, tried to catch yr attention a few times), Trudi and Jason etc. - the only people I met at the gig were Dario, and Roadie about 4 times!) but ended up in a different pub as the two friends I'd got tickets for had fallen out w/each other just after I bought them, and the gig was the first time they'd met since, so I was playing peacemaker and didn't want to be distracted. (It was fine, and a good time was had by all).
So, that meant I missed most of Eureka Machines, last coupla songs were pretty good, wouldn't mind seeing again. Goddamn Whores were plain boring, and I never thought a band with Jon Poole in it could be that.
And the main event was ... pretty good. Well, no, really, really fantastic. How fantastic? Soooo good, that for the first time in years I didn't head to the bar or toilet during Everlone. Yeah, that good.
But the b-sides were the real specials. Dangerlust, Two-Way... and Beautiful Thing were just stunning. Loads of people knew all the words to them, not just the 'hits'. Nice to see Caffeine Bomb in the latter part too - I've not upgraded my original Earth Vs so it'd be odd for me to hear it in the 'wrong place' (no idea where they even put it on the reissue). And 29X to close, just perfect, will never get tired of that song, especially with a 2000-strong backing choir. I wonder how many they'll still be playing at Hammersmith.

PS - DarkLord, if you'd have nipped out into the foyer in between the bands, you'd have got yr t-shirt in about 2 minutes, so still would have had time to queue for beer.
