Jason,

You seem to have great knowledge of the rare items out there.

Just been looking back through some of my stuff, have found one of the 4 track promo CD's for Must Be Destroyed. Its the one with Nexus Icon on it. My one is stamped with UNMASTERED on it.

Do you know if they were both like this?

Have never heard of the Japanese Promo cassette you mention, do you own a copy and if so, any chance of posting a picture?

How far does your knowledge of the rarities go back? Was told many years ago about
a promo cassette for Caffeine Bomb with a special sleeve. Am still to this day trying to track one down, don't suppose you have ever heard about this or maybe even seen one?

Sorry for all the questions but i am a bit of a completist with the bands work and any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Mark

Thank you for your great info JasonH san

I started this thread just to know your opinions - it was really useful.

I have ever seen promo advance album CDR of "Must Be Destroyed" from Universal Japan. It was in thin jewel case with print-out sleeve of album artwork.CD label was not really great quality.

BTW,do you know the most of alternative tracks which were only available on eastwest promo cassette (like Just Stay in Earth VS eastwest demo 9tracks, In Lilly's garden unreleased single version with Piano 1 track cassette) ? I'd love to know all the rare materials on those EW cassette tapes :?: .

Marky Mark - my Destroyed 4-track CDR with Nexus Icon also has Unmastered on it, so I'd suspect that they all do. But can you hear any difference between these tracks and the finished article?

I do own a copy of the Japanese Destroyed promo tape, but I don't have any webspace to host a picture. If you're able to post pictures on here then I could scan it and email it to you?

And yes there is a Caffeine Bomb promo tape with a luminous green insert, it just has the titles and a glass/cup "ringmark" on it.

Kyukyuichi san - thankyou for the info about the Japan Destroyed CDR - I have the RARAMFR one and it has no artwork but just has the titles printed on the disc and comes in a thin jewel case. I was not 100% sure it was official but it sounds very similar to the Destroyed one that you have seen, therefore now I think it must be authentic.

There are lots and lots of rare versions & unreleased tracks on eastwest promo tapes and it will probably be many years before anyone has a full list of them. New ones keep appearing all the time. Geoff Gillespie sold loads on eBay a few years ago, amongst them:

"Destroy Anaheim", which is a live soundboard recording from Glasgow Barrowlands in April 1992,

"Compilation Tape" which includes Dreaming In A (Current Mix) / Loveshit (Rehearsal) / Shame On Me (Live Unmixed) / Pump It Up (Live Unmixed) / Dangerlust (Rough Live Recording)

"MONDO AKIMBO AGOGO (5 TRACKS)": PLEASE BABY PLEASE / KISS MY ARSE BEFORE YOU SAY GOODBYE / VIVE L'AMOUR / WILD WINE & WHISKY / UNSOCIABLE EMOTIONS - dated January 1991, which is fascinating, as it's proof that Ginger intended to use the Mondo title long before any of the eventual Mondo tracks were ever recorded

There's also other unreleased stuff out there on eastwest promos:

"4 DEMOS": TURNIN' AMERICAN / TV TAN / LOVE YOU 'TIL I DON'T / CRYIN' OVER NOTHING - promo tape from August 1991 - this is the one that got them signed to eastwest

P.H.U.Q. 5 TRACK SAMPLER tape includes an exclusive edit of In Lilly's Garden - it's years since I've played it so can't remember quite how it differs, but I think it either has a different intro or fadeout, from the original intended running order of PHUQ

There's a demo of Down On London on a Suckerpunch promo tape

A Lovebank CD-R including "Hate The World Day (Vox Up)" / "Fire Up (Vox Up)" / "Geordie (No Shit Version)"

A Just In Lust B-sides tape which includes Underkill with the Sex Pistols sample - this of course got them into copyright problems and the track was held over until Sick Of Drugs, by which time the Pistols sample had been removed

Anyone got any others to add?
