Stormy in the North is an utterly mediocre track :/

Blatantly only chucked in because it was a single. Soooo many better tracks even just off Wildhearts must be destroyed imo. Oh well. Nice feature from Kerrang mind. :)

Yes indeed, that track is called Endless Nameless but Ginger specifically said that it is NOT named after that he actually made up the name himself.

I remember an interview with Ginger in some awful Yank magazine where he said Endless Nameless WAS named after the crap on the end of Nevermind.

Not being 12 years old I haven't bought Kerrap since the mid-80''s (Sounds was much better for all you old enough to remember). It is too full of shouty short-haired types who think they are punk.

Buy Classic Rock instead.

That is bizarre. I specifically remember the article I read as I was embroiled in a Wildeharts vs Nirvana war with a schoolmate who was claiming Ginger copied Nirvanas title for EN. Showing him that article put him right in his place the jumped up pimply faced little pratt. Wll, kinda, he didn't believe it and I am forved to admit that neither did I really, thought it was the drugs talking.

Kerrap cant pass judgement on the Wildhearts. They )Kerrap that is) have lost there way. It was due to them I got into the 'hearts after hearing Looking For The One on a free CD of their's back in early 2002. Now its like a totally different magazine. I sometimes think: Do Kerrang know the acts they cover are clones with slightly different odd sounding names and this is a phase while the kids look for something else to 'love'?

Sorry lol end of rant.

Don't worry I'm not saying you are wrong, but Ginger does have a tendency like all rock stars to be full of shit. One minute it is one thing the next minute it is something else. He does have a knack of pulling out defeat from the jaws of victory (the recent US Tour is a prime example. Why not employ someone who knows what they are doing?).

Maybe Kerrang! don't do a feature on them that much because the band trashed their computers one day after a particular damning review. As for the album Endless Nameless, I certainly would not put that as 'The Album To Avoid'. My choice for that would go to The Wildhearts Strikes Back. Not a patch on Tokyo Suits Me. :D

Kerrap always harp on about them being rock n roll, so I think if they are blacklisting WH for trashing the office then there a little two faced. Youd think Kerrap would of took the ball and run with that one: they could of worked with WH to start a massive public feud that could of sold alot of issues.

Um, that was five years ago, of course it's like a different magazine. I'd imagine most of the editorial staff have moved on (mags like Kerrang! and NME have high staff turnover simply because people get older, their tastes change and they feel the need to move on), and music's changed too - five years is a long time in music and things change fast: five years ago it was towards the end of Nu-metal, five before that it was Britrock, five before that was the middle of Grunge, and on and on. Kerrang! aims at a demographic and has to change to reflect what its readers are listening to. It's pointless to criticise them for it because they've never really tried to hide the fact that it's a commercial magazine and anybody who somehow believes they're reading an underground publication is seriously deluding themself.

'Pass judgement'?? What are you on about? If you mean the article, it's one guy's opinion, and while I don't agree with all the tracks he's listed, I can understand his inclusion of the singles. After all, with a few exceptions, it's where most of us were first grabbed by them (Caffeine Bomb on Raw Power, anyone?).

Dr.J.Jones wrote: He does have a knack of pulling out defeat from the jaws of victory (the recent US Tour is a prime example. Why not employ someone who knows what they are doing?).

It's becoming increasingly clear that it may not actually be someone that screwed up, rather that something has changed in the US immigration department and a lot of bands are finding it very difficult to secure visas.

Also Japanese band The Spunks, who are actually touring the US at the moment, are apparently to have their visas revoked and be deported when the tour ends.

Ok, let's sort out a few facts...

1. The 'trashing' (hyperbole added by Kerrang!'s news desk) of the Kerrang! office was not due to a bad review. Ginger took exception to a report that there were 'internal problems' within the band and paid a visit to the offices with Danny and Ritch:-

Darren in his WH history wrote:11 January 1995 Kerrang! publish a news item alleging that the band have "numerous internal problems". The magazine claims that there is a rift between Danny and Ginger. That same afternoon, the Kerrang! offices are visited by Ginger, Danny and Ritch, who proceed to smash up a desk, a computer monitor and keyboard, and "a variety of personal effects", causing over £2,000* worth of damage.

One desk and a computer?! hardly a trashing. And Kerrang! delighted in reporting it the following week.

Oh, and it was twelve years ago ferfuksake, why are we still talking about it!?

*You have to bear in mind that, at that point in time, a decent PC cost the best part of two grand.

2. The only remotely bad review they've had from Kerrang! was the infamous '3K' for the original Mondo release when they, entirely correctly, criticised the mix for being a bit shit. This can hardly be called a bad thing since it was probably a contributary factor to it getting a remix, and sounding a hell of a lot more WH, on DBH... JW.

Blacklisted, Huh?? Kerrang! loves The Wildhearts, I don't know what gives you the impression that they don't? Sure, there hasn't been much lately, but until very recently, they weren't exactly up to much - somewhere in a not-together-not-split-up limbo. There're few bands with, let's face it, the limited market that the WH unfortunately currently enjoy who get this much press (Although the stuff in Classic Rock doesn't count, 'cos most of it's written by a LiSTEE who freelances for them   ). They've not missed many chances to feature them over the years, hell in the mid-nineties there was barely a week when they weren't in there somewhere, even if it was just Ginger playing Rent-a-gob across many and varied subjects. They even capitulated, when many would have told him to fuck right off, when Ginger demanded a circular advert in the middle of the page for TV Tan, and this was back when it took a lot more than half a dozen mouse clicks to make it happen.

I couldn't fault Kerrang! since they're what got me into the Wildhearts in the first place and I remember when I was 15/16 Kerrang! may as well have been called "wildhearts fanzine" they were in it so much, Ginger was often on the front page and if not on the front page there was a main feature in the mag...even if it was about something stupid such as Gingers pet rat or the size of his thumbs lol

It's a shame Kerrang features the crap they do now but in reality all they're doing is providing what the majority of readers want, just as they were doing 10+ years ago when I used to buy it.

Settle down Ean, someone could think your getting worked up over this...

Im sticking by what I said. And i never said it was over a bad review, Ean, so your jumping the gun. Kerrang may not of blacklisted WH, but I imagine it taught Kerrang a lesson: dont report things on bands that arent confirmed, you could piss off said band. It left K! with a band taste in there mouth. Plus, yeah it was 12 years ago, but if we should forget it because of the past then lets forget Phuq which is 12 years old, shall we??? I dont think so.

Anyway, I still think Kerrang is utter shit, they may of changed writing staff over 5 years but the music they use to cover is still there: they just choose to cover what makes more money (which makes sense bussiness wise, but I thought Kerrang 'werent about that'?)

I feel what I said bares weight and isnt totally wrong (as you make out). Enough said. Lets talk about the feautre on WH.

I'm not sure I follow - who said anything about Kerrang 'blacklisting' The Wildhearts? This is in a thread with a scan of a recent Kerrang full-page feature 'Where to start with the Wildhearts'. This don't look like no blacklist to me.

What Im saying is the coverage recently has been great, but I feel they could of done more. The Where To Start With feature was great (yeah, I know I posted here about it first) but they didnt say in the actual feature WH have a new album and tour. Thats elsewhere in the issue. You thought they would of made a point of saying something.

Like I said I know Im not 100% right but Im not 100% wrong, it feels like members are ganging up on me. Im not gonna stop speaking my mind about the band I love. But I will stop about Kerrang.

Exactly......it was Kerrang's waxing lyrically about the Wildhearts leading up to the release of "earth..." that switched me on to them.
