Really enjoyed the show myself, we were on level 1 at the side so had a great view and particularly loved the rarer songs getting an airing, especially "2 Way Idiot Mirror" and "And the Bullshit Goes on".

One thing I liked was when Ginger gave us a bit of background to a song and how it came about. It was a pity he didn't do that a little more, but I guess there was a lot of songs to get through!

I was puzzled when he said about re-recording "Show a Little Emotion" and changing the lyrics to be about someone at EastWest, isn't that the story behind "Just Stay" changing into "And the Bullshit Goes On.."?

Great gig, the technical issues didn't spoil it for me, and the crowd were as mental as I have ever seen them I bought one of those "Its fun untill someone loses an eye" t-shirts although I am wishing I got an "Anniversary" one know too.

Not been home long, fell asleep on the train after hitting it with a vengence again today. Have to say, the whole night rolled into one big over excited blur (although Instant Karma is my new best friend for the standing ticket - I was standing outside after the gig for ages looking for people till the adrenaline wore off and the guinness kicked in).

I did love the flake in Dave's pint.

Where to start? With an apology I think. As Guy Garvey, one of the finest men to walk the planet once said, manners cost nothing and I did something that I despise seeing others do. Having not had it made clear to us AT ALL that one queue was for the circles and the other for the stalls, I managed to get to the front of the queue only to be told that it was the wrong one and I'd have to join the other. At that point it was 5 minutes until the stage time for Eureka Machines and for very obvious reasons missing it wasn't an option to me. As I went to the other queue, Vicky recognised me (which was nice, as we'd never met previously... guess that pictures thread serves its purpose!) so I quickly joined her. So I basically pushed in just by the barrier by the entrance. I felt like a complete prong for doing this and explained myself to anyone that would listen. No harm done really, I just thought I'd apologise in case anyone reading this was at that stage in the queue.

Anyhow... got in there and Eureka Machines were, surprise, amazing. One person in this thread said they were "a bit loud". Erm? I think that wasn't so much the volume as it was the bad sound in the venue. Of which more later.

What I'm REALLY not getting is the amount of people that didn't enjoy the God Damn Whores. I'm a fan anyway, but I thought they were fantastic last night... best I've seen them. There's a new album in the making and I can't wait to hear it.

Then before The Wildhearts, I thought I might try and get a drink. Mistake. It took nearly the whole half hour changeover to get served because someone thought that four people serving the entire downstairs area (two each side) would suffice for a gig that has been sold out for three months. Just got back to my friends and spot in time. Just like with my local venue, the Bristol Academy (also a Carling venue), the large amount of fire exits means that they can stuff the venue beyond reasonable means. Moved about five times during the course of the gig to get some kind of view. I've been going to gigs for over ten years and know perfectly well what that means. But some venues design the layout, and manage the capacity, so that everyone has a good time, and others don't. Simple as that. The day Carling stops having anything to do with live music (or is it just the Academy Music Group?), the better.

None of this should take away from the fact that The Wildhearts were magnificent. And it's great that these days, when they have sound difficulties, they take it on the chin and do everything to keep the occasion special. Fact is, I had a great time, but the venue itself can take no credit for that.

Nice to briefly meet up with friends old and new too, although again the venue layout rather complicated this. I look forward to rectifying this in earnest in December... I like socialising! To be fair, it didn't help that the day was a mad rush from the start because I had only left Bristol at 2.30 as I was putting up Clearlake, the other band whose site I do. Funnily enough, at the gig I saw someone in a Clearlake T-shirt so I went to chat - and it was Jackdaw4's webmaster!

Anyway, I don't want this to sound like a rant. Bottom line: amazing gig, brilliant night.

I made that same mistake, and it took me getting on for half an hour to get served too. Someone else said they didn't have any trouble getting served - maybe that was at the back bar or upstairs? I noticed the back bar didn't look too crowded (when I was waiting half an hour to buy a T-shirt earlier) but didn't fancy trying to force my way to the back, and then back through the crowd towards the front while carrying two pints.

Basically: Band - great, crowd great, sound shite, venue shite. As Damian said - the sooner Carling lose their corporate grip on venues the better. And then maybe I'll be able to get a decent pint as well - wasn't impressed with O'Neils either in that respect.

Great gig - didn't actually have too much of a problem with the sound - I've heard better (maybe base could have been louder and the guitar solo bits could have been clearer). Overall though an amazing experience, wouldnt have sold my ticket to one of those touts for a million quid.

Hi to all of the guys off here - usual suspects you know who you are - although you might be still trying to forget me - (it looks as if you already have Sarc? No mention of me in you list of people in the pub even though I was sitting next to ya! - next time I'll bring my spastic bag which should make me more memorable)..

Roll on Christmas. Proabaly won't catch any of the gigs, I just like Christmas...

Me and the missus got down to the pub just before 5, went up to the bar, met a drunk Norwegian who complimented me on my shirt and I returned the favour. Turn round and there's InstantKarma. Buy drinks, walk 2 yards, find Rob and Ila. Notice that what appears to be half the board have colonised the bar. Proceed to sink a few while chatting to new and old friends. Laugh at Ean for turning up late. Get dirty chips from down the road (cheers InstantKarma). Go to queue for gig, sort out height differentials with Tiggie who almost explodes with happiness over newly acquired standing ticket. Get in gig and spend Eureka Machines set queueing for t-shirts (good sounding set tho, must get album). Buy eight or nine t-shirts (Me, missus and Ean clubbing together to keep queue times down). Laugh like a very peurile childish drain at the GDW's homage to Pink Floyd. Best set I've senn them do, but still not really my cup of herbal infusion. Set up camp on the edge of likely mosh circle for main set. Get misquoted in an abusive text message to Sarc (cheers Ean). Get pulled into a WiLDly cheerful maelstrom of mosh for most of the gig. Remind myself that regrets are for mornings after, and who needs a neck that can turn anyway. Grin myself silly at the sheer awesomeness of hearing THOSE songs performed by THAT band, Turn all the way round during 29x the pain to marvel at the tower-of-babel-like tiered rows of screaming, laughing, dancing Wildhearts fans going absoulutely batshit. Stagger out into the street for a rousing Don't Worry 'Bout Me on te steps outside the venue. Go home shattered but exhilerated. Can't wait to December to do it all again!

Just have to say hello to the people i met. The start of the show is kind of blury to me. had to much to drink, as usual. But after the first 3-4 songs my brain are back on track.
The sound was not the best, But that didn`t bother me much. I had a great evening, the setlist and the crowd was just fantastic.
Its gonna take a couple of days to come back to normal after one of the best saterdays in ages.
