Nottingham Rock City

Can anyone recommend a decent rock pub near the Rock City. It'll be my first time at RC. Also whats the policy with cameras at RC? In fact how would you describe the venue itself?

The Tap and Tumbler, one street down from the venue. Fairly inexpensive beer and plays good rock music. Or at least it did last time I was there.

Aye that's the place of choice - and there are always a fair few guys in Wildhearts t-shirts on days like the 5th. That's where I'll be! I've bought my ex gf that new tshirt with the naked women touching crotches on it. So I'll be the one with the lass with that on.

Speakeasy (now it has it's license sorted and they don't have to bring your beer to you!) is my favourite pre-gig haunt and has Wildhearts on the jukebox!. Down the hill from Rock City and turn left at the traffic lights / tramlines and it's sandwiched between Horn In Hand and Rescue Rooms (also a good place).

T&T is a bit more old school - pretty good except for the dodgy cover bands!

Old Angel is also worth checking out if you have time on your hands (it's a bit further from Rock City though)

Oh I forgot you wanted to know about Rock City itself too...

Well it's a multi room club. The main room is quite big (not sure of the capacity but I'd guess 1000?) with two bars and a balcony and a reasonable size stage. I presume this is where the Wildhearts are playing. There is a smaller room that also hosts gigs and another room called The Rig which plays classic rock on Saturdays (rock night).

Sorry, I don't know the camera policy because the only time I took pictures I had a photo pass anyway

The Rescue Rooms are very good, although if there's also a gig on it can get very crowded. The Horn in Hand is a horrible It's a Scream pub, but used to be a lovely big old Firkin.

Not been to Speakeasy will look out for it. Sounds good. I'm not quite so oldschool and sometimes feel a little out of place with my jumper, gold chain and skechers...
