I don't see enough threads here discussing the possibility of American tour dates. Or any on the first page of the section for that matter. So all Wildies fans in North America, let's talk.
In 2004 the Wildhearts toured with the Dragons. They weren't playing very long sets or anything, but I'd have made it if I had any chance. I asked two months in advance and my jerkoff boss at the time wouldn't give me the days off. I could have gone to Denver and seen the Wildhearts and Metallica 2 days apart - a beautiful coincidence, my two favourite bands. I even had three people ready to hop in a car to go with me and split costs - a Wildhearts fan that I developed myself, and two Metallica fans who were willing to be schooled. All I needed was two fucking days off! Needless to say, it was heartbreaking.
The prospect of a few shows in March 2007 was huge for me. Then it dawned on me that because of work (insert boring details of work that no one cares about but are necessary to emphasize that there was no way I could leave home from March 1st-17th) I could not go. In a way, it was a blessing that it got called off - sorry to all who feel screwed over by the visa thing. Now, hopefully they'll come back to make up the dates they missed, plus a few more, when the weather is nicer, and we all know the new songs well enough to sing along.
I'm stoked. I know nothing has been made official yet, but based on the current British tour dates, it looks feasible that they'll be here in the two most glorious months of the year - June and July! To tell you the truth, the hardest part is getting there, as I'm in Regina, Saskatchewan. (imagine Canada is a big butt. Saskatchewan is the crack and Regina is the arse hole) I have this feeling that all dates will be in the far east, far west, and far south. No matter what, I'll be doing a lot of driving or bussing. But regardless, I have the vacation days all saved up and I can afford it too. If I'm there for one date I may as well stay for two or three, because going from home to New York to Philly to... (I don't know... Boston?) Isn't much more expensive than going just to new york and back and the ticket prices don't mean shit when you are spending a few hundred on fuel.
Yes, I plan on making this the experience of a lifetime. Because with The WIldhearts, you never know. They could break up tomorrow, and even if they stay together, they may decide to never cross the Atlantic again. I will appreciate every moment. Lord knows I've waited a long time.
