Get The New Flesh Played On Radio

Postby gimme » 14th Aug 07, 15:55

I've just read that XFM have played the new flesh on their rock show.

So what do you lot say to a campaign of emailling radio dj's to try and get it played, they cant ignore the demand if enough people email in.

and although radio is sucky, think about it, the more it gets played the more singles that sell the higher in the chart it gets and the more people come to the christmas shows.

Here are some Radio dj's contact details. feel free to add more

Nice list! Those of us with myspaces should get this list put out in bulletins!

Lets make these stations think they dont have a choice but to play the song! Radio does suck, but it's up to us to change it!

Hi daniel, I love your show, Just wondering if theres any chance of you spinning the new wildhearts song "the new flesh" on your show anytime? its getting released as a cd single on October 1st and will probably get overlooked by most radio stations and djs, yet will probably still go on to sell well which is always the case with a wildhearts single

kind regards

grant, pembrokeshire, wales

thats an example of the sort of emails im sending out, dont use the same wording as i have or itll be obvious, but feel free to use the basic ideas.

I think it's probably a fair plan to badger DJs, though it's possibly easier just to send a quick text message when they're on air.

Incidentally, given you put your location in your email, do you have any tourist suggestions for Pembrokeshire..? (Going there in a few days and my agenda so far consists of mooching around, eating, dog-walking, and possibly fishing.)

go to oakwood, the local theme park, very small area wise but has about 4 big rides that are quite good.

in the summer its open from 10 am to 10pm with a firework display and cheesy dance routine at 10 pm

theres no real city life, the closest we have is the main town haverfordwest (where i live) which doesnt even have an hmv.

the small town of narberth is quite a pleasent little place, few antiques stores and all, and its hall the Queens hall is good for gigs its hosted therapy?, the b movie heros, skindred and quite a few tribute bands over the last year or so

http://www.thequeenshall.org.uk/

dont think theres much of intrest coming up now though, unless your a sophie elis bextor fan

if you want somewhere to go for a drink then perhaps the railway inn in johnston might suit you, the owners son is a huge wildhearts fan and has had danny mccormack staying there in the past as well as ricky warwick of the almighty

anything else you need to know just ask

: :D

Woo, thanks for that - gives me some ideas! (And no, not a massive Sophie Ellis-Bextor fan, but it depends on how bored I get.. *grin*)

The pub sounds good, will see if we end up anywhere near it.

A bit OT, but isn't Daniel Carter of the Daniel Carter Rock Show the artist formerly known as Daniel P Carter of 'A'?

I think that was less OT than my question.. ;)

And yep, I believe that's him. I was pretty surprised when I found that out.

People shouldn't feel the need to limit BBC6 play requests to the rock show. New Flesh is easily poppy enough to get play on any non-specialist show on there...

Pembrokshire tourism? That's on topic at all times, regardless of what the thread title is.

It's Internet rule number 477(b). Look it up on wikipedia   (actually, it's best if you don't, I wouldn't want you think I was lying to you...)

Yeah, I was surprised too. I met him after an 'A' gig supporting Symposium (remember them? Ah, those were the days :D ) at the Cockpit in Leeds & he seemed incredibly shy, unlike the Perry twins who were both extremely friendly & completely barking. You'd think they'd make better radio hosts than a bloke that, at the time at least, didn't seem to enjoy talking to strangers. Dunno what he's like now I always forget to listen to his show.

Maybe it was just us...

Maybe the Perrys would make better hosts of some awful breakfast show on commercial radio? Seems you have to be a complete fruitcake to do those.

He's not really though - he's sat in a room on his own talking to himself. :?
