Wildhearts in UK Fests

If you want to see The Wildhearts play at any UK festivals - or European for that matter - there is something you can do. Festival organizers like to hear from their audiences what bands they like so they know who to invite, not just business managers. Fans' words carry more weight. Why don't you use this thread and figure out amongst yourselves which festivals realistically would fit the Wildhearts for sound and size then organize some kind of contact by all of you to that festival. I also noticed - and I know you don't like them much - NME is having the same sort of thing on their website right now, asking the top requested bands by fans and passing the info on to festival organizers. You don't have to go through them, you can do this yourselves, but if you want to see the Wildhearts, you have to TELL the bookers that. The more requests by you they get, the better the chance of a booking, and if enough fans of one band contact them, they'll get a high(er) position/timeslot. There's a lot you can do to help besides post to each other. While you're at it, you can also think about what other outlets you'd like to see the band and/or their music and do the same thing. Fans have a lot more say in the business than anyone tells you. Festival bookers especially ARE listening.

You all need a kick start. Someone who cares, please post a list of ALL festivals the Wildhearts could play. I'm not in Britain OR Europe, so I have no idea what's going on over there. Once you guys post a list of all festivals that might take WH, you need to find the websites for those festivals. I did that a year or two ago; it can't be that hard to do. There's always a "Contact us" button somewhere. It'll help if you can copy down a list and post here in this thread what the festivals are and what their websites and/or contact information is. Then those of you reading this who want to help the band can easily email or contact EVERY FESTIVAL to ensure the highest chance of a WH booking and the highest slot they can get. What they get booked for is actually up to you all. If you don't make noise, the bookers won't see the band has a following who cares. If they know a band is backed, they assume you all will spend you money at THEIR festival to see the band you think is worth enough to make noise for. I'll be back with the only list I have.

Not all of these will fit the Wildhearts; I'm only copying the article which is, of course, old. This is from an industry inside newsletter. You need to find festivals of all sizes and list them here with contact info so the rest of you can contact them all. As I said, if you love the band enough to DO something, the festival bookers count that. If the band's following isn't visible, the chances are much smaller they'll be booked, and not in a good slot. It's up to you all; I'm not doing this alone.

Here's the article.
