SECOND NEW TRACK UP ON WH MYSPACE - UNSUNG

Current mood: accomplished

Preview track 2 – Unsung

Originally by – Helmet

Lead Vocal by CJ

Some words from CJ & Ginger about the song.

CJ:

Hey it's Helmet, what can you say...Just one of the best bands to come out of the 90's and it was a joy to do this song.

Ginger:

We used to take acid and listen to the album Meantime, when we first started out, and wondered if we could ever be as amazing as Helmet. I don't think we matched their inventiveness and sheer brutality, especially live, but we felt confident to give this one a bash anyway, on CJs request.

I think this song matches his vocals perfectly. Man, this one's a bitch to play. Helmet are just too damn good for anyone to copy.

Meantime is one of the greatest albums ever made, absolutely.

Its fooking grand, although I'm buggered if I know who's doing vocals on it, one minute it sounds like CJ then the next I'm not sure as it sounds a bit like Scott then the next it doesnt so I'm guessing its Ritch, any ideas?
Did you just say "Pig Flute"?

only heard the original for the first time fairly recently, but it's a cracking song and they've really done it justice - CJ's vocals fit really well, which surprised me, because he doesn't sound much like Page Hamilton. awesome!
IF THERE'S A SOUND YOU PLAY THAT DOESN'T FIT TODAY,
WHY NOT JUST PLAY THE BASTARD ANYWAY?!

Fuckin Ace! Long time fan of the origonal and this version is immense!

The bit from about 3:20 is incredible and the whole song is heavy as a very heavy thing even with the legend that is CJ on vocals!

Mind you, this is a slight comedown from CJ's apparent dislike of 'the heavey stuff' - first Rooting... then EN songs live and now this! Thank God is all I can say :D

Next! :D

Oh, an the cover of such a popular heavy tune seems to have got them noticed by a few people ---- http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/Blabbe ... emID=95836

This exposure can only be a good thing being that Blabbermouth is a US run site and read by a hell of a lot of people (dispite being crap - just before you all start)

May 19th! Come On! :D
Interviewer - "So whats the secret of your longevity?"
Ginger - "Splitting up!"

"Bernard, its hot in the worm."

"School aint shit, I read it in a book"

I truly hope that I'm wrong, but this is shaping up to be my second least favourite WH album.

The tracks just aren't doing anything for me so far (in the way that original WH material does). I'm not suggesting that it sounds bad, just to me it lacks that WH "magic" I'm sure that I'll come around eventually.

This is good for me. Honestly, I usually hate CJ singing, but he pulled this one off quite well. Only two complaints here:

1. It would have been nice if they'd put a little more of a personal stamp on it and not pretty much played it exactly as it was written.

2. I hope these are early rough mixes/masters. General sound quality could us a fair amount of improvement and, at least in this track, I think the guitars could stand to drop a little in the mix.
