Gig in Madrid - Setlist and some photos (Updated)

I've seen The Wildhearts a few times since 2001 and they were all good but this one in Madrid was by far the BEST one. Maybe because it was in a small venue and I was right in front enjoying it like hell. The sound in the venue was too good to be true, in fact, I don't remember a live gig with better sound, loud and clear. The band was in top form and they rocked really hard. I still got a huge smile in my face. Hope what CJ said is true and they will play in Lisbon next year. Here's the setlist:

VANILLA RADIO
CAFFEINE BOMB
EVERLONE
SUCKERPUNCH
SICK OF DRUGS
REVOLUTION WILL BE TELEVISED
ROOTING FOR THE BAD GUY
CARMELITA
SHAME ON ME
SOMEONE THAT WON'T LET ME GO
I WANNA GO WHERE THE PEOPLE GO
LOST HIGHWAY (with Jason Rigenberg)
WHITE LIES (with Jason Rigenberg)
29 X THE PAIN

I'll post a few pics later on

8) I know that, was trying to get a reaction from someone :D Jason was great singing with the guys. It was the first time I heard them playing those 2 songs live and it sounded nothing like the WH recorded versions. Much more rocking.

I'd love to have heard that.

That's a pretty good set. I'd be happy with something similar in December.

I found it strange that they didn't play My Baby Is A Headfuck

PS: Scott gave a new life to The Wildhearts, god bless Ginger for picking him up

 what an awesome perfomance that guy puts in the band

True, but I reckon I'd gladly swap Headfuck for those two songs with Jason.

Ace pics! great setlist! Must have been a joy to be there.
Just looked at the photos and was intregued by the setlist pic.. at the bottom, it's written
'Why Waltz When You Can Rock N' Roll' (which amongst other things is a line from the Lee Harvey Oswald Band's 'Panic In Hanoi' but also a song by CJ's old band Tattooed Love Boys) 'Please Baby Please'(old WH tune) 'Final Countdown' and 'Shandi'

Why? - was this a reminder for something? looks a bit of a random songlist without having a simple answer - is anyone able to hazard a guess? - did they play snippets from these tunes?
am I a trainspotter?
answers on a postcard...

It's been played every single time I've seen the band (which is a LOT of gigs), and on a lot of the solo tours too. Not suggesting that it never gets played again, just that it wouldn't be the end of the world if it wasn't, particularly if it meant that we got those two songs instead.

Well spotted ;) this one was CJ setlist, I I took a look at Gingers and those final bits were diferent. I believe he had Nita Nitro and OCD in there but not sure. They didn't play an encore because they'll be back in Spain and hopefuly in Portugal in February 2009 and they wanted to make us (the audience) feel anxious for a near future comeback.

I was having another think about this.. it looks to me like Ginger's writing and at a guess I'd say it's an in-joke, baring in mind the song titles. - especially if its the setlist given to CJ

I think you're right about that. I know now that in Barcelona they didn't play White Lies and Lost Highway and played instead OCD, Love U till I don't and Headfuck. The Jason participation must have been a late decision because he was playing the next day at the same venue. Anyway I don't get tired of saying what a SUPERB FULL ON ENERGY that gig was :D
