Choose

If you had a gun to your head and had to choose, which of the following would you prefer:

A. The Wildhearts touring constantly and playing at least one affordable show near where you live every year forever... but never stepping foot in a recording studio again.

B. The Wildhearts working tirelessly on writing and recording new material and releasing at least one album a year forever... but never playing live in front of a crowd again.

So would I, what a horrendous decision to make

It flies in the face of what rock and roll is about for me. I can't vote, I'm afraid!

I would choose to never have to read these pointless, hypothetical threads.

This was spawned of conversations I've had with a friend of mine all the time. He's a big fan of a lot of 80's rock bands that are no longer together, and whenever talk of a reunion comes up his excitement seems to be geared more towards seeing them live again than around hearing a new album from them.

For example... he's speculated a lot about a full GNR reunion.... and he talks about how great it would be to get a chance to see them live again, in their proper form... and doesn't seem to give a shit about whether they would put out any new material.

That baffles me. I'm exactly the opposite. So... the question should be seen more as "What's more important to you... the live experience or the material?". I just dressed it up a little.

But then again... you seem to be having a good time with having found a reason to be a cunt and say something nasty to someone. So you can just keep going with that instead.

Personally I couldn't pick. Seeing a band live is such a big part of the experience for me, but I wouldn't want to keep going to nostalgia gigs where all that was played was the same old stuff the band has been playing for years. A band that isn't writing new material isn't a proper band any more IMHO. But then neither is a band that doesn't play live...

Oh pick your fucking toys up! You seem to have thrown them out of your pram! And I'm capable of been much more of a cunt, as you so eloquently have called me.
Let's be totally honest here, your imaginary scenario is utter bollocks. End of.

You shouldn't be so negative.

I get more excited about new material than a tour.

Honestly, I could totally do without live shows, but I know I'm a weirdo. I do see the Wildhearts anytime they play within driving distance... but I think that's more about showing my support and trying to give them as much of the success I think they deserve as I possibly can.

I really don't get this.

You'll will either get:

a) Just tours

b) New material and tours

Who in their right mind would pick a)?

Thus I have not voted.

Almost everything on this board is hypothetical, and now you are merely perpetuating it. Admit it, you checked back to see if Nuno had replied to your comment on a hypothetical thread, am I right? You could have always just not clicked. Then clicked on reply. Then typed. Then logged back on again. etc etc

It is a gay* poll tho. Most are. I'm gonna go start one now.

* I like gays

No. It's either new recordings, or new tours... but not both.

Why would the band write and release new material then not tour it? It is a silly poll for the Wildhearts. They're not the Beatles. Without touring they can't afford to record, without recording they have nothing new to tour for. They're symbiotic.
