Demo session is complete.

Hey there, Ginger here. Just wanted to let you know that the demos for the new album are all complete.

It's great to be back in NYC again with the family but we had a blast in Finland recording at Seawolf studios.
We even managed to drag our new manager, Virpi, out of engineering retirement to record these songs for us.

The styles are very mixed up but this time we've tried to keep the lengths of the songs to 3:30 each. And overall we've succeeded. I think only one song exceeds the 3:30 mark, and that's the last track, complete with run-off riff/melody.
The album is very melodic and very riffy. Ritch described some of the songs as Sky Babies only short. There are some very bizarre arrangements on this album, something I really wanted to happen.
The album was written (and sang) together, however, so there was no guarantee that it would sound anything like the album I wanted to make. I'm delighted to say that it does. I still play a very large part in the writing so it really isn't any huge departure from our style, but I hope to include the use of samples and loops to make the typical Ramones meets Cheap Trick approach brought a little more up to date.

We will be recording proper in April, in Denmark with Jacob Hansen producing. Jacob did the Volbeat album which is currently exploding all over Europe. He gets great, huge sounds. He won't have done anything like this album before, but then no-one has, not even us.

The album title looks set to be 'Chutzpah'.

As well as the song we aired at our show in Helsinki recently, 'The Jackson Whites', some other song titles are 'Some Days Just Fucking Suck', 'You Took The Sunshine Out Of NYC', 'Vernix', 'Plastic Jesus' and 'You Are Proof That Not All Women Are Insane'.

The band are in great spirits and really thrilled to be so personally involved this time around.
Expect the album around the end of August.

Gx

How random is that title, I've just looked up what it means and this is what it be reading like...........

(according to Wikipedia so it's most likley to be utter bollocks)

Chutzpah (IPA: /ˈxʊtspə/) is the quality of audacity, for good or for bad. The word derives from the Hebrew word ḥuṣpâ (חֻצְפָּה), meaning "insolence", "audacity", and "impertinence." The modern English usage of the word has taken on a wider spectrum of meaning, however, having been popularized through vernacular use, film, literature, and television.

In Hebrew, chutzpah is used indignantly, to describe someone who has over-stepped the boundaries of accepted behavior with no shame. But in Yiddish and English, chutzpah has developed ambivalent and even positive connotations. Chutzpah can be used to express admiration for non-conformist but gutsy audacity. Leo Rosten in The Joys of Yiddish defines chutzpah as "gall, brazen nerve, effrontery, incredible 'guts,' presumption plus arrogance such as no other word and no other language can do justice to." In this sense, chutzpah expresses both strong disapproval and a grudging admiration.

The word has also entered Polish from Yiddish and is written as "hucpa" in Polish. It likewise means arrogance, audacity and shamelessness.

One example given of the ultimate of chutzpah is: "A boy, having just been convicted of murdering his parents, begs the judge for leniency because he is an orphan."[1]

By the sounds of the album so far maybe Chutzpah is quite an apt title

Have to say I am getting more excited every day with the way Ginger is teasing us with info about the new album. Still frustrating we are gonna have to wait 6 months with until it hits us (full in the face no doubt!!!).

My MSN Spaces blog thingy used to be entitled "More Chutzpah than you can shake a stick at" thanks to a friend's - er - 'accolade'..... I've used it on Facefook status' too. One of my fave words, and underused in my opinion!

After pretty much devouring the WH and Ginger back cat in the last 12-15 months, I'm not used to having to actually wait for anything, and this is one I'm absolutely and completely on the edge of my seat about :D

I wouldn't think so as the same track has also been covered by

Jello Biafra and Mojo Nixon

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kzMjGbSoTj4

Levellers

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ydESXqIOyHw

and was in the film Cool Hand Luke and was sung by Paul Newman.

Maybe on the next Stop us album..

it's good to see that The Wildhearts are doing something a bit different on this one. Not dissing any album at all but we all know they're capable of doing something original and great.... this sounds great!

need to check out volbeat now!

Yeah, that was my first thought - though having done it, I'm not a fan of them, I must to say. Super cliched. Really nicely produced, though, big and meaty. And that's what matters to us, I suppose!

Makes me think of The Wildhearts crossed with Market Harbour....maybe lots of shorter songs and inbetweeny bits to make up the time....a very good thing in my opinion....
