Mansun

Postby Stuart Brackpool » 18th Feb 07, 16:41

When Mansun were around I always enjoyed hearing the singles on the radio or on music channels or wherever, but never enough that I would actually buy any of their albums. However, I always said that if they released a singles collection of some description then I'd get that. Well, last year, they did just that and there's a lovely version with a DVD of all their videos and other stuff on it. Anyway, after listening to it and coming to love it greatly, I ended up getting all their albums after all. They truly were something special. Now I have to acquire all their singles as they mostly had exclusive b-sides. This isn't going to be cheap..!

Thanks for reading this, self-indulgent as it is. Oh, and does anyone have a Mansun shirt they don't want?

You don't really need the third album, and the first is pretty good, but everyone should have a copy of "Six" (album two). One day that'll be recognised for the lost classic it is... seriously, find yourself a copy.

Sorry, I may have been unclear in my ramblings. I already have the albums, including the rather lovely set Kleptomania with all its bonuses, rarities and the like. The first album I like a lot, Six I found impenetrable at first but I'm a great believer in perseverance and I'm listening to it pretty much daily now. It really is something else. Little Kix, I like. There are some wonderful tracks on there such as I Can Only Disappoint U and Soundtrack 4 2 Lovers but you're right, it's not as essential listening as the first two. Be nice to hear some new stuff from Paul Draper sometime soon, optimist that I am.
