People From The General Newcastle and York area

Hiiii *waves*

Sorry I haven't been posting for absolute yonks.
Just got a quick question for you lovelies.

I've started the joyous job of looking for uni's (yawns) I've found a few I like(apart from the disgusting requirements)
This is where you lovely lot come in.
What's the general gigging/night life/general life like in Newcastle and York??
I've been to both places alot but never really gone out much(I sound like a hermit!) apart from with the rellies.

Ooo also does anyone know any uni's that have good music(General BAmusic) or photography courses.
I've got 3 so far but the school have decided I need to find two more.

Any help would be fabulous!

gigging - gotta be Newcastle

Nite out - depends what you want. York used to have a pub for every day of the year (365) apparently. Newcastle can be as sleazy/non sleazy as you want it.

Seen as you will be staying in and studying then will it matter? :D

I would have to disagree with Newcastle from a gig perspective... it does have it's fair share of gigs, but to get anywhere else from newcastle is a pain in the arse, so you might actually be better in York as it's only a short train ride to Newcastle, and Leeds/Manchester/Sheffield are pretty close.

For a general pissed up night out, Newcastle wins hands down though. Go for nights out in both cities and get a feel for the places... might help you make your mind up!
