Ok, but why does the need to 'do things' exist? Boredom's an adaptive motivational factor in an organism that succeeds by dominating its environment through concocting and then executing plans, I suppose. Or something.
Yeah, I don't know where this thread's going either, but please submit any philosophical / existentialist / theological/ scientific musings that come to mind. I'm always interested in what people think about this 'why are we here?' shit.

We are finite creatures in a universe of infinite possibilities. Does that seem a little unfair to anyone else? And it's not so much why things exist that's on my mind at the moment (though I've had my share of grappling with that one!) but where do I put them when I have them? And I'm going through a bad patch with Countdown...Bloody 75 times table.

I think it might've been on Red Dwarf when one of the characters said something about humans and all other life on earth being a form of disease that has infected the planet...like a bacteria...I suppose it makes sense in a way...

Of course we could all just be the dream of some super inteligent super being and when he / she wakes we will all, you know, vanish.
Man.

I thought that was the Matrix, Agent Smith to Morpheus...
True though... We do all come from bacteria, and we are a negative influence on this planet.

Go.
As my old nan always used to say, "Because a y's not a z, and you can't clean windows with a shovel". Mad as tits, she was.
I once attempted to prove her wrong by cleaning her windows with a shovel. It ended badly....
