Interesting. I've only listened once, but to these ears Scott Weiland's vocals are way more palatable, and collectively, they seem to have captured the sound of a tight band as opposed to an ego laden supergroup. Maybe both our minds will change....American rock tends to wear a little thin on me after a while. I'm sticking with 9/10 at the mo....we'll see. Some great "Slash moments" nonetheless.

cheers.

On the subject of 'Merican bands, I am really enjoying the new Bon Jovi album and think that is worthy of an 8 or maybe even a 9, however the country tinge makes we want to give it a 7, even though I really like country.

This album has me a little confused...

I've only heard a few songs from it over the phone and at the moment I'm liking Contraband more, but I'll keep an open mind until I've heard it all!

To me they sound like more of a band on this record than contraband..

Slash has'nt sounded this good since guns !

a solid 8/10 for me, if they carry on in this vein album number 3 will be a classic

I'm halfway through my first listen right now. I gotta say I like it. Last album I liked a lot but I was determined not to get caught up in the hype and overall it ended up not being a classic for me, but a disc I still play from time to time.

So far I really like this one. Velvet revolver is based around heavy rock with awesome choruses, lots of riffs, and enough pop sensibility for your mom to like it. Kinda like the WIldhearts.... god it makes me sick that the world hasn't embraced the Wildhearts and Velvet Revolver, who are a great band, but use the exact same formula, just not as well, are international superstars, largely because Slash is in the band.

Sorry to say this but, RUBBISH.

Have you not heard the two Snakepit albums? Better than either of the 2 VR albums IMHO.

The first album maybe, beggars and hangers on is a cracker, but the second album was beyond terrible. I owned it for an afternoon before rushing to return it.

Does anyone hear a similarity to a classic song in "Mary Mary"?

I do, during the line "Mary Mary on my mind, ooh..."

anyone else hear it? I don't want to say which song yet.... no 'power of suggestion' that way.

So if you recognize something there, speak up! I'd like to know if you hear the same thing as me.
