Buying stuff from ebay

How do folks

Bit of a quandry here regarding buying stuff from ebay and I know some of you cheeky little blighters are known to dabble in a bit of ebay trading from time to time so i figured I'd ask you lot.

Ive bought a fair few things from ebay in my time and never once had any problems up until today when i bought two Soul Asylum t-shirts from a guy in the states, his rating seems pretty good so I figured it'd be okay to do business with him so to speak, so i bought them with the buy now choice and paid 29.97 in US dollars through paypal, got the email to say the money had been recieved fine, no problem there

Now Ive just had an email from the guy saying he wants an extra eight dollars for combined packing and postage but there was nothing on his page saying that this would be required, i know 8 dollars is only about four quid but surely thats not the done thing surely combing the orders would be slightly cheaper and the price your given at the end through the buy now option is the price you pay as its a binding contract,

I've emailed the guy back saying that it wasnt shown on his page that extra money would be required for combing the orders, is it really necessary and if it is I'm not happy that it wasnt clear.

The only thing i can think of is that he's trying to pull one over on me as he may think im new to ebay as I had to sign up a new account as i couldnt remember which email address id signed up with or what my login name or password was as it'd been about six months since i last used it.

Now what i need advice on is.........., took me long enough to get to asking the question didnt it............do i wait for his reply to my email, see what he says and then contact ebay/paypal about it to cancel my order and get my money back or just give him the money?

Wait for his reply. If it didn't say anything about it in his listing you're in the right here. If he won't budge, inform ebay, and they'll sort it

Noo! Always, always demand an invoice from the seller, even with a buy it now, that way it's entirely down to them if they fuck up the amount they expect to be paid, and you have written proof.

Can you bung up a link for the auctions? (I'm assuming there were two since you talk about combining)

GOt a reply from him this morning he's saying i should have emailed him about combined shipping before, anyways here's his reply

ts $9.99 per shirt
it costs 16.00 to send to shirts to the UK and you should email the seller before bidding about combined shipping i know you are new to ebay but you do not set the shipping price
it is posted in the auction as soon as you send the $6.00 we can complete the auction
i am not losing money because you are not happy

and here are the links

I think you might have read the descriptions wrong.

The first auction says 9.99 for the shirt plus 16.99 for international shipping, the second says 9.99 for the shirt plus 9.99 for the shipping, so that works out at $46.96, so yeah unless you contacted him before about combined shipping you do technically owe him about $16.

I think him asking for 8, now 6 more is perfectly fair, that's a fiver less than the description says.

Yeah, it seems he has done everything right. He may have been more explicit with shipping but it is in there.

I'd pay up or get into trouble with ebay.

I think unfortunately that you walked into it a bit and should have emailed him about combining the orders. He's taking the piss a bit charging different postage for essentially the same thing though.

I suppose if you were feeling particularly arsey, you could email him and tell him not to be so fucking patronising in future. :P
