i read an interview with Dregen and he raved about them. So i was in a record store and saw the I Wanna Go CD single. Saw the name Ginger on the back and bought it. When i got home i listened to it about 50 times and the rest is history. It's impossible to find Wildhearts stuff here so i buy it all from overseas. Still, there arent any girls here who know them which sucks... only guys here know them. Bah!

One down here in Tassie. Read a review of Earth vs. back in about 94 and thought that any band with a song called My Baby Is A Headfuck has gotta be cool. Fuck me, I was right! Got the album on import and have been fanatical ever since.

Nope, i ditched Adelaide cos it's boring and I moved to Melbourne. So much better here. Love the music. And i brought Muscle Car with me and we have a whole new line-up. All good. Love rock.

Gidday from Briz

Saw TV Tan clip on Rage either late 93 or early 94 - can't remember - after basically seeing 'em in Kerrang every other week. Then bought Earth Vs for one Aussie dollar from Rockaway Records in Ashgrove (it has the gold 'PROMO - Not to be re-sold' stamp on it).

Joined the old CutnPaste Wildhearts Mailing List in '96 - then run by a Scot called Steph

Travelled to UK in '99. Closest thing to the Wildies at that time was seeing The Yoyos supported by The Jellys. Had a good yarn that night to CJ, Chris McCormack and Paul Cook. Left for Brisbane days before Clam Abuse tour.

Converted several mates since who also dig Honeycrack, Ginger solo etc. Met some LiSTEES along the way inc. Damo Musclecar our bands played together once) and Rich Johnson (who crashed at my joint for a few days).

I still play music these days that isn't very WHs sounding at all (see The Barefoot Experience) but quite certainly Gingers songwriting influence still rings through my soul............. and my busted eardrums.

I know of a whole heaps of Melbourne dudes who are fans. Matt from the Thrillkillers is a huge fan, the guys from Hotel Wrecking City Traders are huge fans and have spent considerable time in the UK collecting all their stuff but now live here rockin', this mixer from Geelong named Big Al is a fan, there's another dude named Adrian i know in Melbs who is a big fan so they are around... just takes some looking... or a wearing of a t-shirt for them to speak up and let it be known. Rock!

SO what do my fellow 'straaaaylians think about TWHs covering an Aussie band on Jap version of 'Stop Us...' (Regurgitator - Everyday Formula).

I reckon CJ is singing this one. His voice would suit it and i've heard him talk about the 'Gurge on several occasions. They're not a personal favourite but i've always dug them in a way (i preferred their pre-Gurge bands) and they're from my home town. I think the WIldies would do a good version. Wait and see.......

I am actually surprised they didn't do a Gurus cover. Ginger got a video off me years ago of all their videos. I didn't know he was a fna until then. And on that bootleg DVD that's been doing the rounds from the tour last year, you can hear Bittersweet being played before the band come on stage.

When i chatted to CJ in Japan last year, his first words to me were "Do you like The Gurge?" He told me that the Jellys played with Regurgitator and that the Gurge were his all time favourite band. He has eclectic tastes. I think Ben (their bassist) is a Wildhearts fan too.

The Wildies fans are spring ing up all over the place here in Melbourne. I met a dude on Saturday who repaired my amp and he had a BC RICH poster on the wall that had the Green and Blackl beast guitar that Ginger used in SG5... when i mentioned "Ginger used one of those in SG5" he said "Ginger from the Wildhearts used a Beast?" and i was like "You know the Wildhearts?" and then he displayed his love for the Dogs D'Amour... We are now going to swap bootlegs... So good!
