To agree to let Plant and Page into next years Eurovision?
We were talking bout this in my bar today...
I KNOW there are pleanty of arguably genious musicians
But I think they are unanimously considerd the finest
Don't you recon they should enter and put a stop to this sharade once and for all?
For a laugh?
Love you all, Vlad x

To be perfectly honest I've always found Led Zeppelin to be possibly the single most overrated group of musicians in the history of man.

I served my musical apprenticeship listening to Zeppelin, but that was about 30 years ago. Had you made that statement then I would have had to track you down and hit you over the head with my cock.
As it is, Zep do nothing for me now, they had their time and place.

wasn't bill bailey going to enter the eurovision at one point? as cool as it would've been, i think the europeans would have then assumed that we've all become mentally disturbed trolls, and not given us the vote....

I know us Brits have always found it funny, but last night it was a pretty sour joke. Our song was... shall we say... solid... competent... which is hardly praise, but the fact is it was a hundred times more tolerable than the death-by-power-ballad slush of the rest of it.
The problem isn't so much the 'tactical' voting (remember in every country, it's the people that vote now, not judges, which is why it has got worse) as it is the introduction of the semi-finals. Most countries are quite affronted that us Brits don't take it that seriously, and now they have the wherewithal to ditch the silly stuff before it gets to the final. So that vodka song and the turkey from Ireland got the chop.
The reason that four countries are excluded from the semis is that they put much more money into it. Given that one of them is the UK, perhaps now would be a good time to consider NOT funding it so much/ at all?
But then, all this makes me sound like I'm taking it seriously so... I'll shut up.

I was talked into watching this last night, and although I didn't see our entry I saw most of the others and the voting. The voting was totally predictable based mainly upon geography and politics and yes, they clearly hate us for not taking it seriously. However, the other countries (even France) were still singing in English because statistically the English songs have more chance of winning. Oh and if having an ice skater in a song contest isn't a gimmic I don't know what is.
Personally, my favourites were the Finnish Metal band (metal!! Axes!!) and the Pirates. They may have been disco pirates, but they had their own dance routine and I think I detected a chorus, which is more than I can say for most the other entries.
They don't want Page and Plant, they want sequins, costume changes and gimics. Give 'em Alice Cooper. (yes, I do know he's not English...but one of the Eastern Europen countries entered a Yank so why can't we)

i wouldn't know, i had better things to do
i did catch the odd glimpse of it on telly, but it was like walking in on a clown masturbating into a shoe while being chased by a monkey with a crossbow; yeah, you'd probably invite anyone else nearby to watch and take bets on the outcome, but afterwards, you'd question your own mental state for having actually stuck around to watch it yourself.

true, that is several hours of my life that I would like back. But it was made less painful by the liberal application of large amounts of wine. And we got cheese straws, so not a totally wasted evening.
