The sneaky sod has only gone and released a new album sunday before last in mp3 format, a full album and charging no more than 49 cents which at the moment works out to be 24/26p and with no advertising.

Well when I say album basically what it is is one long track that rolls in around 43 minutes, he recorded it over a week and got someone to transfer it to mp3 and it got released on a sunday less than a week after it was completed, who needs record lables eh?..........................and thats a hypothetical question Monica before you start another essay.
Ive just bought it and downloading it as I type, it's described as something that sounds like you'd heard when switching between radio stations, which to me sounds a bit Market Harborish and it comes complete with the warning

"DO NOT LISTEN WHILE OPERATING A MOTOR VEHICLE!"

bit nervous about listening to this as i was a tad let down by his last album Folker as much as I loved it and four years on it still gets played to death there was was something missing.Still he's managed something that if the reviews are anything to go by is a bit of corker and its as though he never damaged his hand with a screwdriver while trying to remove candle wax.

For those of you interested you can get it through his website.

i may pick this up soon actually... kinda late getting into the replacements, and i've yet to hear any westerberg solo stuff.

speaking of the replacements, i heard the other day that they're reissuing all the major label albums ("Tim" onwards) in september. I picked up the reissues they did of Hootenanny and Let It Be and the remastering is really sound, can't wait to hear the likes of Bastards of Young and Little Mascara remastered!

All the albums are getting re-released and remastered with tons of bonus stuff chucked on not just the stuff that was released through Sire.

I'm about 15 minutes into it and it's pretty damn good so far.

On his website, he's selling it as 49 minutes of music, wonder what happened to the last five minutes...? :?

Its on there its just hidden amongst other stuff hehehe, as he says it's like flipping the dial on a radio and hearing snippets of songs fading in and out and overlapping, there are a few points on the track where two songs are played at the same time, it should by rights sound awful but somehow it works.

But 24p for an album/track, thats not even half the price of something from itunes

yeah, the twintone-era stuff has already been re-released a coupla months ago - the remastering sounds pretty good to me, and the bonus material is mostly pretty good (a much lower quotient of ropey tinny shite than most reissues) - the sire stuff got delayed til sept for some reason.

a little trivia. twin tone, for twin town, as in Minneapolis & St. Paul, although no rock ever happened in St. Paul
