New Manics Album Info

“Hello everyone

We thought you would like to know that we have been making music. We have been in the studio with Mr Steve Albini recording live – to tape – analogue – no digital hiss – no Pro Tools – no safety nets. Quite scary, daunting but invigorating.

All the songs we are recording are lyrics left to us by Richey. Finally it feels like the right time to use them (especially after the last 18 months being so amazing with Send Away The Tigers). Musically, in many ways it feels like a follow up to the Holy Bible but there is also an acoustic side – tender, romantic, nihilism, “Small Black Flowers That Grow In The Sky” esque. It’s a record that celebrates the genius of his words, full of love, anger, intelligence and respect. We have to make this great. Wish us luck.

We hope to release the record next April or May. The working titles are “Journal for Plague Lovers” or “I Know I Believe In Nothing But It Is My Nothing”.

Love
Nicky, James and Sean.”

this could be very interesting...
IF THERE'S A SOUND YOU PLAY THAT DOESN'T FIT TODAY,
WHY NOT JUST PLAY THE BASTARD ANYWAY?!

the 45 mins they played supporting the foo fighters in manchester has been the live highlight of the year for me! (although i write this prior to the wildhearts manchester gig in december!) Motown Junk - still one of the best songs in the whole world ever!

I wondered if they'd ever get round to this. Given that the unused Richey lyric they've spoken of most over the years concerned cutting the feet off ballerinas, it might not be the easiest listen. But then I still think The Holy Bible is an amazing record.

Having said that, Bloc Party beat them to it and sang of cutting the feet off ballerinas on A Weekend In The City.

I guess some of you just learned something new. Thank me later.

Not sure how i really feel about this - it feels like they're admitting that all their post-Holy Bible material was toss and that they're trying to relive former glories...

I have personally enjoyed the post-Holy Bible stuff so I'm not sure whether this is really necessary - maybe theu're trying to hard to sound young and relevant again... :?
and just last week as i was clearing shit from off my shelf...

Or maybe the three of them feel they are in a place where they can do justice to Richey's lyrics and leave him a very fitting legacy?

I agree. Their last album did very well, and it was their best in a long time (apart from "Underdogs" which I find excruciating). So I genuinely believe they wanted to do it, rather than needing to. The unused lyrics have been spoken about for years, they haven't just been "unearthed".

Oh yes. Very excited. Haven't really been into much of the post-Bible stuff, so looking forward to this.
How dare you!
