so i've finally gotten around to getting a last.fm account (i put it off for ages, because my brother used to borrow my laptop and listen to some fucking TERRIBLE shit, and i didn't want that stuff scrobbled!)

anyone else on here got one?

and furthermore, does anyone know how to get that widgety thing that you put in your forum signature that shows the last 10 tracks you've played? i've several people on various forums using them, and i can't find anything about it on the lastfm site.

I'm on Last FM (user name JulesT). I rather like finding new stuff by finding out what people who like some of the same bands as me are also listening to that I haven't heard.

If you look at Wildhearts listeners I think you'll find quite a few board listees.

Yes, I'm on. Hence widgetty thing below.
You can turn the scrobbling on and off if 'a friend' wants to listen to something you don't want on your list...

Will add you now. I'm on as 'northern_vixen' btw (old nickname, long story). Hello Jules!

Everything these days needs you to log in or have an account, what's the benefits of the Last FM one? I've often ended up listening to stuff i've never heard of on there, is it worth it do you's reckon?

I'm on there, but I can't remember what my account is.

Not to be more of a killjoy than strictly necessary, but that's fucking huge Spoony, can you knock it down to a top 5 like Vicky's one, cheers. :)

If you want to listen to things you like and know then get bands you know into your library and then play your library. You then get a radio station of music that you like. You need to ensure you have plenty of bands that have their music on Last FM, and delete any from your library that you don't like (anything you play gets added to the library automatically).

Alternatively, find someone whose musical taste you like and play their library.

If you play music on your computer a lot (and I'm slowly loading my music onto the laptop so that I don't have to keep moving CD's around), then you will start to compile charts of what you listen to most - I quite like looking at these charts (sometimes it can surprise you).

anyone else joined the Spotify revolution yet? Usually i'm last to catch on to new music technologies (only just got a £15 mp3 player, nevermind an i-pod!), but I appear to be ahead of the masses!

4 Wildhearts albums on there so far.......and no Ginger.

Yes I use Spotify too. It links up with Last.fm if you choose to enable that option.
Not as much rare stuff on there, because it has to be put on by the record label or distributor (I think, not sure). However if you want something really mainstream then you can go on and listen to whole albums for free, which is pretty cool. If I use it more I might consider paying so i don't have to hear the adverts, but at the moment I still prefer last.fm because you can see what other users like and talk to people, also there are loads and loads of gig listings so you can see what's on at the weekend.
