I really loved your drumming on the New Disease EP that you played on. What was the story regarding that and is there any chance we'll hear you playing that style of music again? For the record, I think that your drumming style is really suited to songs with a bit more space that give you the chance to show off.

RE: The Duck Song...

Postby jo » 17th Apr 07, 01:20

Hey Ritch,

It's great to hear that you will be in the WH's line-up...and so I have a request of sorts.

Me and ginger_is_god (and 100 other people!) will be at Riffs on the 12th, and we were hoping that you would sing the Duck Song?

PLEASE? I am NOT above begging! Basically, because it was a stroke of sheer genius and is one of my favourite WH songs ever...YOU ROCK!

Feel the love, people!

Hello Ritch,

Glad you're back in the fold - you were always the best wildhearts drummer.

Anyway - Ginger made a comment on stage at Koko about getting you out of retirement to come and play. Was this a serious comment, or just a load of balls!?

Cheers!

Any tips for making huge dancey style beats with plenty of sonic booms a la Endless, Nameless?

When you play it sometimes looks like you are in pain. Is drumming actually as painful as it looks?

Hey Ritch,

Welcome back to where you clearly belong! I'm not a drummer myself, but the sound and attack on the new album is awesome.

Have you guys had as much fun on this tour as we, the fans, have had? Where do you get the stamina to keep going night after night after night. I was bloody knackered after one night!

Cheers, Keith.

Glad to see you back, Ritch.

So... have you ever noticed anything different in the way certain other drummers played certain songs that you originally put the drums together for, for instance, the beginning of I Wanna Go Where The People Go? If so, what do you think about that? Similarly, are there any drum parts in particular, written by others, that you consciously play differently?

My band used to cover I Wanna Go Where The People Go, and my guy would always automatically fall into the "other way" of playing the intro and it used to piss me off to no end.

Question 4 Ritch

Postby pinnick » 30th May 07, 20:51

Ritch,

First of all, welcome back! Nothing against Stidi, but you've always been my favorite WH stickman. You have such a solid, meaty, yet tasteful style of drumming that is a bass player's dream (at least for this bass player).

Anywho, my question: have you ever hit your drums so hard that splinters flew off your sticks, into the crowd, killing/wounding security?

And speaking of Security, LOVE the songs you guys recorded together! What happened with that project? Not that I want anyone else in the Wildies, mind you!

This set of questions is now being answered - I'll put a new thread up for a new batch of questions soon.
