I wasn't a fan of the packaging either. It would be way too easy to lose the booklets and OBI strip.
I actually wrecked my first copy of this album. I dropped it on the pavement outside of my car and chipped off a piece of the plastic tray. Then a few weeks later one corner of it got soaked with hot chocolate while it was sitting in my console - I guess the console was soaked from spillage when the lady and I snuck some hot cocoa into the drive-in movie.
So I gave it to my neighbour and ordered another copy... not in that order of course! My next door neighbour is a Quireboys fan so naturally when I heard this I began to tout the Wildhearts. However, when he heard the new release he seemed disappointed, he thought it was a bit too "metal" for his taste... I might ask for it back to give to someone else more appreciative.
Anyway, the reason I am writing this is because I actually made a sleeve for my CD. I scanned the covers and aligned them on the page in such a way that I could print it out as one piece, fold it up, and glue two edges together, much like how real slipcases are aligned. I took the printout to a copy centre and had them copy it to some nice cardstock paper. it's unique in that it opens at the top instead of the left and/or right. The very next day when taking it to work, my water bottle leaked and practically destroyed the sleeve, but it did its job because the digipack inside is still pristine. After the sleeve dried, I decided it was better than not using one at all, so I kept using it. It has really come in handy. Protects everything, and makes sure the inserts don't fall out.
