Holiday/Casino Bay Single

Postby andyh » 20th Dec 07, 13:12

They've got quite a few copies of this on sale in the Zavvi/Virgin Megastore (or Tower Records if you want to go back in time a bit) in Picadilly Circus in the new release singles section. Got hold of one yesterday and there were at least another ten so grab them while you can. Casino Bay is a real anthem - piano intro, loads of hammond organ and a gorgeous emotive vocal from Ginger. Got a bit of a country sound, and his voice is going somewhere towards the throaty growl of his friend HWC. How Legends Love reminds me a little of an Endless Nameless era song somehow, but with much cleaner production and a random mexican horn section. The three work together really nicely as a festive single - Holiday makes just as good a Xmas song as it does a summer one, and while by Ginger's standards its a very basic throwaway pop song, it's still better than most bands could manage as their best work. Can't wait to hear the new album and see anyone who's going down the Wildhearts at the Astoria tomorrow.

But Holiday is a christmas song. :?

Guys,

You're requesting people send you copies of a single that hasn't even been released yet on the band's official messageboard, complete with your email addresses.

Please don't do this - you'll all be able to hear it soon enough I'm sure, please just be patient. I know all the people above have probably already ordered copies of it, but just because you have, doesn't mean everyone out there will have. Best not to get it circulating on the net before it's even in the shops in my opinion - I'm sure we'd all rather see as many sales for Ginger as possible after all.

I'm going to delete the posts above to protect the innocent.

Thanks
Kris

Bit harsh in my opinion it's not as if the single in unavalible, many people have had there's delivered today,

it's just us unlucky few who have rubbish post service and are gagging to hear the new stuff

i'd never do anything to deny ginge and the boys the sucsess they deserve

Holiday/ Casino Bay

Postby BGennard » 21st Dec 07, 22:08

Mine came this morning, just giving it a spin or three and ......

Well first impressions are...................very bloody good!

Holiday - I agree with an earlier comment about it being remastered/remixed as it sounds so much better, to be honest not one of my fav tracks on Yoni, but it sounds festive and its growing on me!

Casino Bay - Excellent, damn if this is a taster of the new album then i think we're in for a treat,

How Legends Love - Another excellent song..............

in conclusion, well im gonna be happy all christmas hehe, and im really looking forward to Market Harbour, hopefully this could be the album to break Ginger to the masses!!!!!!!
from out of the darkness there comes a light......

BGennard----yes yes and yes----Holiday does sound better than on Yoni (not one of my favourites either) makes me wonder whats gonna happen with Yoni---as ive posted elsewhere gingers band(GDW) said at their sheffield gig the whole album was being re-mastered----Casino Bay as andyh said could turn out to be an anthem----but How Legends Love is the best track here for me-----if this is a taster for the album i for one cant wait! if the album maintains this standard and ginger tours with the band playing a GENUINE Market Harbour set and not just a couple of newies mixed with old material i think this might just be the breakthrough---heres hoping!
