Ordering in a minute or so!!!

unsure about HMV etc

Might just as well say bollocks to the middleman and all get it from Cargo. They seem to be able to despatch their own orders even if they apparently can't always manage to get shop orders out on time.

Although I'd imagine it won... heh, I was going to say it won't be so bad as there's no postal strike now, but it's being released in the middle of the Christmas backlog so who knows...?

Sooooo... the lead track is from the last record, not the new one that the single's designed to promote? I was going to say "interesting marketing" but since I have an inherent distrust of anyone that works in marketing, I'll say "carry on". :D

(with apologies to any nice people on here that work in marketing, as opposed to those I've met...)

Holiday

Postby robdy2k » 21st Dec 07, 15:47

I got an email from Cargo last week saying the dispatch of my single had been put back. Can't remember why they said there was a delay because I can't access my email at work but I wondered if anyone else got the same mail?

Am worried I'm not gonna get it on Xmas eve now, was really looking forward to listening to it on the drive up to my folks place.

I got that one too, then another one apologizing for the mistake in the first one and saying they were mailing yesterday.

Oh, and mine arrived this morning. :D

Damn fine it is too.

Happy Holiday!

Postby robdy2k » 24th Dec 07, 10:18

Howdi Ho! (seasons greeting all!)

Recieved my copy on Friday and have listened to it 3 times now...

Holiday is obviously fab for putting us all in the mood for Chrimbo... proper bo! to be reminded of this seasonal gem (making me wanna book a flight somewhere hot!).

Casino Bay - what can I say? I was singing along the second time I heard it... should be used to that from Ginge by now but it still never fails to amaze me how he can do that because I'm sure as a Xmas shit that not many other people do nowadays...

How Legends Love ROCKS as far as I'm concerned. A tasty little number indeed.

In all I'm stoked with this little package. It's not often I buy singles (only really for Ginger and WH stuff nowadays) but this is deffo worth it... whetting my appetite for new material. I'd say that I'm ready for some new Ginger solo stuff. The distinction between his own stuff and WH has never been greater and when you get the bigger picture from the Singles Club stuff to Valor and Yoni (I wouldn't include SG5 as for some reason I don't think of that as solo stuff - anyone feel the same?) ... if the newie is as good as / better than Casino Bay and the preceding records then it should be AMAZING!!!

Since I already own "Holiday" & will have "Casino Bay" when the album comes out, I just snagged "How Legends Love" from iTunes. 99 cents. Catchy!

im with you robdy2k---there is a distinction between ginger solo stuff and the wildies and from what ive been told 2nd hand (and the guy aint particularly a ginger fan--he just works in the industry) the new album IS AMAZING. However---does anybody else share my sense of past disapointment and future reservations concerning ginger solo/ sonic circus tours???They always tend to be just a couple of newies thrown into a mix of WH standards and covers. It would be great to see a dedicated Market Harbour/ Yoni tour---it surely would be a much better way to promote the new album--i really hope ginger doesnt waste this opportunity---and it would give us punters the chance to see just how good his band are---from what ive seen in the past ive got the feeling theyve got one hell of a lot to offer---which kinda links up with what robdy2k is gettin at---there is a distinction between solo/WH stuff ---i just hope ginger truly promotes his solo stuff along with the band and resists throwing loadsa WH material in there

Ginger tour

Postby robdy2k » 29th Dec 07, 19:09

Shadow - On Gingers last tour this was the setlist from when I saw him at Bradford Rio's;

Black Windows
Yeah Yeah Yeah
The Night I Was Born Again
So Into You
Drinking In The Daytime
Brain Sugar
Why Can't You Be Normal All The Time
Save Me
This s Only A Problem
Can't Drink You Pretty
When She Comes
Eager To Leave Er
I Wanna Be New

That's When I Reach For My Revolver
Answering Machine
Sonic Shake
29x The Pain

Uhh - only THREE Wildies tunes there at my count so not too bad...

My main concern about a tour is that nobody will turn up like at Rio's... it wasn't even half full which was a crying shame as the gig was RED HOT!

seasons greetings robdy2k--i know what you mean about the turnout at Rios --i was there---it was very poorly attended but the punters that were there appreciated the show i think--if i remember rightly the rest of the tour was well attended judging by the posts on here. Ginger and the band were absolutely SUPERB at Bradford which is why i think Ginger with this band could really push his new album .Dont know about you but im getting good vibes about Market Harbour and with the same band as at Bradford its a great chance to promote himself as a separate touring show away from the wildies.Anyway thats my feeling now---and if the album does turn out to be a killer and the reviews and publicity are good i think that Ginger should go for it and tour it properly. By the way--nothing wrong with a few standards and covers in a set---but they shouldnt constitute 2/3rds of the show(eg. Rios) especially if youre promoting a new album PS---your set list was spot on except that they didnt play Save Me-----minor detail

Just got Casino Bay today. It's got a nice melodic and melancholic vibe to it - like Re-Inventing The Wheel, Inside Out and Man Who Cheated Death.

The remastered version of Holiday sounds a bit clearer on the speakers than the Yoni version. Peversely, Casino Bay sounds great musically but the production is a wee bit shoddy. The drums sound like they are coming from next-door. Thankfully, the song's craftsmanship make the song shine through.

....... And the verse bassline of How Legends Love is the same riff from Stevie Wonder's 'I Just Called To Say I Love You'.

Catchy little choon. Love it.
