I think Terry Date did the rerelease/remix of 'Don't be happy...'. Not sure who mixed it originally.

Yep Terry Date did DBH.... Production on Mondo is credited to The WH and 'Desperate' Dan Priest. No-one else is listed, so I'm assuming they mixed it as well.

Why won't Ginger get any money?

Isn't he still due some part of sales as almost sole songwriter? That's just mental if not.

Having read the Rhino site, I'm not sure that they won't get paid as they seem to licence tracks from the original companies rather than buying the rights.

Unless I'm wildly wrong (and I'm sure someone will delight in correcting me if I am...), they'll probably make as much money as they ever did - i.e. bugger all since I think they still owe EastWest a fortune.

Somebody'll definitely make money - and chances are it'll be a lawyer.

Are we actually sure now that it's going to be a Rhino release?

Nope, but it seems an odd label for Amazon to just pull out of the air at random. :?

HMV (and HMV.jp) are listing it as Rhino too, and at only 9 quid delivered - anyone willing to chance it?

Ah, thanks, hadn't seen that! It's just that a search on the WHs on the Rhino site doesn't return anything.

Is this the same Terry Date that produced quite a few Limp Bizkit and Pantera Albums? If so Wikipedia needs updating!!

It seems so.

There's a reference in the 'Rough Guide To Rock', but you can't view the page online. It shows up in the Google search though.

The Rough Guide to Rock - Google Books Resultby Peter Buckley - 2003 - Music - 1072 pages
Nig Hodgkins & Andrew Rosenberg THE WILDHEARTS Formed London, 1989. ... It was rerecorded, with production from Terry Date (Pantera, Soundgarden), ...
books.google.co.uk/books?isbn=1843531054...

Update it then. That's kind of the point of Wikipedia.

Rhino's press release about this collection reads:

"Maintaining, at best, a cult following in the U.S., England's Wildhearts are the beloved workhorse underdogs of U.K. hard rock. Starting out in the early 1990s, the Wildhearts, led by iconic frontman Ginger, went as much against the grain as a band could during the Britpop explosion of the era. The Wildhearts blended hard rock, punk, metal, and pop melodies for a sound that had more in common with Guns 'N Roses and American hair metal than Madchester party bands. The band released numerous albums and EPs throughout their long career, and saw several singles do quite well on the U.K. charts. A beloved anomaly in the world of U.K. pop and rock, the Wildhearts continue to soldier on into the new millennium."

Sweet harmonies and riffs that would rip your head off, pleasant1

I HATE Guns N Roses!!! If The Wildhearts sound anything like 'em, I'm gonna have to find a new favorite band! I also can't think of one hair metal band I like (unless Aerosmith or Metallica are considered hair metal). Cheep Trick & The Beatles meets Metallica... sure... that sounds about right to me; or maybe just a harder edged Cheep Trick would be more accurate. IMHO the Wildhearts have more in common with Burt Bacharach than Guns N Roses! Categories suck anyway. Good music is just that... GOOD MUSIC!

As for me, I'm gonna buy this set for the small number of b-sides I only have on unofficial sources, and in the hopes that it includes a decent booklet on the band. After reading that blurb from Rhino, I seriously doubt it!
Rooting 4 THE WILDHEARTS!!!
