I would say no, perhaps consider some black/grey smoke effect?
My Smileybones tat is perched on the top of a Reaper with toxic coloured smoke surrounding it and Hallow'een pumpkins falling through the smoke. Some stars do feature in it but I don't think they add too much to the overall effect.

At the end of the day, it's your choice and as long as you are happy, then that's all that matters. Enjoy and make sure you put a photo up of whatever you get done!
