I can't remember what the book was, but earlier this year, I had borrowed a book that was a rockumentary list of hard rock bands in alphabetical order. It might've had James Gillette on the front (one of them did). This particular book had something like 5 whopping pages of Wildhearts history with pics inserted. Flipping through the rest of the bands covered, the only other band with comparable coverage i remember was Guns N Roses. Most bands had two or fewer pages. When I saw the Wildhearts were there, I was surprised, and when i saw how MUCH the author wrote, I could tell - and then by his write-up - that he was a true fan of the band's and Ginger's. I wonder if this rock writer might ink a Wildhearts book? He knew his stuff, he knew the band, and he did them justice, that's for sure. (I also noticed the [ahem] 1-1/2 page column on The Darkness. I say that because these kinds of rockumentary books here died long before TD existed or were at least known.) Maybe this will help. I think the author was a music mag writer; that makes him not-American.

It'll do well to better "The Dirt". I truly hope it will. As mentioned, way cool trailer (definately some Wolves footage in there). Scott Ian is hysterically sad.....and come on Nikki..actions not words...how bout a support slot in Crue fest???

Does anyone know where the footage of Ginger & Nikki Sixx on stage came from..

I though they were both in Brides of Destruction at slightly deifferent times, so I guess it's not one of their gigs?

see this article for details ;

as for the book - justing printing some of these features and old magazine pieces would make a cracking read. i can't see how it can fail to be entertaining.
why do i have to ignore you to get your attention?

Velvet Presley wrote:On the back of Ginger's hand on the book's cover, where Jasmine is written on his tattoo, says something and then Don't Try This At Home. Can anyone make out the first line? Could it be the author's title? Fairly sure it doesn't say Wildhearts.

It only says don't try this at home - it's split into two lines and 'Jasmine' is missing.

It's actually a different photo :-

Possibly from the same session, unless they've photoshopped Jasmine's name off?

Being a cynic I'd say that it was the same picture turned at a slight angle witht he second hand photoshopped out and fingers photoshopped on, hence the slightly goofy finger positioning...

But after posting I'd realise that I was wrong because of the angle of the tattoo on the wrist...

To be honest when I saw the clip I thought it was a trailer for a forthcoming history of WH type dvd. A book and dvd together would be great of course.

There's a follow up post by the guy who posted the vid suggesting that the book still awaits to be written / compiled. I hope the post is out of date.

Looks great, if the book actually exists right now.

And may I just add my voice to the call for Mr. Sixx to put up or shut up.

HELLO - I'm the Velv of the old list. Current list? Ah, I haven't kept up.

Anyway, me and Mat Keeling from Gurnsey once tried to write a book. I asked Ginger at the time, and he said there would be no way he or any of the other chaps would ever officially support a book unless it was Ginger who wrote it. So not sure who this Youtube guy is up to, more than likely he's had the idea, got over excited and made a viddy.

Me and Mat didn't get very far, but since then I've sat down again with all the research - I thought I'd give it another bash - there is a LOT of research there. Plus, I rang round a lot of publishing houses (this was circa 2001/2) and no-one was interested in The Wildhearts perticularly, so if it does get published, It'd be small scale.

I'd say don't get excited. If I make a promo video, cream your knickers all you want, 'cos that'd fucking kick ass.
