Broken Les Paul

While hovering my Les Paul was slighty nudged from its stand and of course went flying onto the ground snapping the neck.
Well it has not snapped right off at the headstock it is kinda split down from the nut to just before the second set of machine heads.
It is now away getting fixed just wondering what the result will be. Will it play the same? or sound diffrent? It is getting glued and held with clamps to fix.Any advice and sympathy would be great.

I borrowed a friends bass once. Picked it up from her house, walked down the road and the fucking strap on the gig bag came undone resulting in a headstock-pavement meeting. The neck snapped just below the nut. A friend fixed it using the aforementioned glue and clamps method, making it playable again. Whether it was the same is open to debate but as it was quite cheap anyway probably didn't effect the tone too much.

Also, my dad has a b-stock Takemine acoustic which had also had a headstock repair and that sounded and played great so maybe it will be OK

If you are getting pro repair job done the neck will be stronger than it was before and it will sound just fine, the thing that's not good is the re-sale value will be lower, but if you intend on keeping it forever then that ain't gonna bother you. Just look at it as a battle scar.

Yeah the shop is very good that I went to and as you say the repair will be stronger than before.
It is an old beat up studio that is 15 years old and has been giged to buggery and modified to hell as well so it really has no value to anyone but me. Mostly hope it sounds the same to be honest.
Ach well an excuse to buy a new guitar me thinks. January sale soon as well.

Cool, I also have an old studio thats around 15 years old, had it since new, although I now have other 'more expensive' les pauls, my studio is still my favourite and always the one I pick up first.
