Oxford for me, it is a 1 day festival apparently - no idea what the other bands are like or what time the EM's are on but I am really looking forward to it.

It is indeed. Four acts for only 4 squid. That bit about the beer being 7p is totally untrue though. It's 8p.

Steve - 7pm according to myspace.

South Shields is free?? I bet the beer's only 5p up there too.

Also I've just spotted some new Scaramanga Six tour dates on myspace. :D

Hey Steve, how was Oxford? Also have you been writing into Classic Rock recently?

We went to Harrogate in the snow, glad we did as it was ace. Wayne especially was on top form, totally stole the show. I took some photos and I put them up here:

(I should warn you they are a bit crappy. I only have a little camera and I don't have anything like the skills or talent of Trudi or Ila)

Hi Vicky

Oxford was great, it was a one day mini-festival at the Jericho Tavern (famed for being the first place that radiohead and Supergrass played) not a bad venue but has a weird step down not up as you get further from the stage and a lot of the front of stage area had bits of kit piled up on it.

I saw a bit of the band on before and to be blunt they were a typical adolescent boys band all head down and don't talk to the audience and the band after had quite a write up and i hoped they'd be good but ugh dire. To be above the EM's on the bill you really should be able to play your guitars without staring at the neck all every time you have to move your fingers. Thankfully I have erased their names from my head.

The EM's were terrific as usual, only the short 30 to 40 minute set sadly but they were on fine form, Chris was entertaining between songs (his mic cover was covered in pubic hair apparently) and really engaged the audience who were completely won over. He was saying that they had really enjoyed Worcester and were leaving straight after playing Oxford to get back for Harrogate on Sunday night. Managed to have a beer with (the non drivers) before they left but like me they didn't stay long once the next band started up. I also bought the new single which has a live thing from the beeb I believe.

It is getting really boring saying that they really should have top billing at these size venues and also enough time to stretch the set. Roll on the 12 bar I say

I believe I'm OK to talk about this now.

Unfortunately the 12 Bar Club gig isn't happening, although I'd be amazed if they didn't make it to London at some point. Instead, that night (May 28th) they're playing at the Bristol Thunderbolt... 10 minutes walk from my flat. Happiness.

One of the joys of living in Bristol is that I get to see Kid Carpet (a hero of mine, and former Robochrist touring partner) all the time. You do indeed get the same fortune with Eureka Machines!

This is the first time they've been in Bristol. Can't wait.
