Glasvegas. Sometimes the hype and adulation given by the music press is worthy!

Glass and Ashes - "Glass and Ashes" (imagine Motorhead jamming with Drive Like Jehu)
Fighting With Wire - "Man Vs. Monster" (like Foo Fighters with a bit of a post-hardcore edge)
and loads of Idlewild, cuz I've suddenly gone into a very scottish-indie mood recently...

Chuck Ragan - "Feast or Famine"

didn't really like country music til now, although hearing it sung by one of the voices of Hot Water Music sweetens the deal somewhat... cracking album so far!

Honeycrack in the car, Metric downstairs and Thunder in the bath.

Only listened to more Metric because my daughter took a liking to them, really growing on me - good stuff. Gotta love the line, "Patriarch on a Vespa....."

in the car:

Mando Diao - Give Me Fire
(Swedish rock/indie rock band, very good album)

Dan Baird & Homemade Sin - S/T
(ex georgia satellites, 'stop us' linkage)

The Yum Yums - Whatever Rhymes with Baby
(pop-punk-rock'n'roll - think Randy / hints of Ramones and lots of other bands - from norway, some lifting of classic melodies)

Apoptygma Berzerk - You and Me Against the World
(synth pop I guess! more rock in places, plus a cracking cover of Cambodia oriiginally by Kim Wilde - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DI2K8d-52rE & http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HSxS2cqetwI) :D

Yeah you are right a lot of bands have crap names. For me a crap name usually means a crap band. :)

are you kidding me?! "once like a spark" and "les quatre gats" by jetplane landing are immense, and the fighting with wire album is one of my favourites from last year - literally no filler on there!
