MAY 2009 SOLO TOUR REViEWS **SETLiST SPOiLERS**

Albums, singles, songs and general Ginger banter

Postby Pauly » 15th May 09, 08:50

Aye, it was a strange one, I was standing next to the merch so had a grandstand view of the whole thing... The guy who was thrown out was the same guy that was trying to speak to Ginger about playing a gig at The End in Newcastle (or something like that). Ginger couldn't hear, so the dude decided to try and get to the front, I guess so Ginger could hear him. Funnily enough, no one at the front would let the guy in so he goes postal on some poor guy who had been standing at the barrier the whole night. The bass player signals to the guy at the side who was videoing the gig that there may be a problem, then the guy was forcibly ejected during the next tune.

Shame, he missed a helluva gig :D

hi to all,,heres a review of belfast for all,,strange night,,ginger and the boys were on top form and the sound/songs were amazing it just felt weird,,and i really still dont know what i mean,,i am a fan from the start,,wildhearts/ginger solo stuff and yes i did know that this gig wasnt going to have any wildhearts songs,,which i was looking forward too,,there was about 150 i would say and the crowd were well up for it ,,"laika dog"were also great,,its been 3/4 days since the gig and i still cant understand what i felt about the gig,,and the people i went with said they wouldnt go back to any solo shows,,and they enjoyed the songs/night,,anyhow the set was as has been put up here but i think there was about 5 new songs,,but once again i am so greatful for the/any band that makes an effort to come to belfast because with numbers at 150 does it really pay them??,,,once again all i am saying is STRANGE STRANGE STRANGE,,,

Its strange that things seem to have gone a bit wierd starting at the Newcastle gig
hope that doesnt discourage G ...what with some- shall we say average attendances -he may be inclined to take his shows to other countries rather than here

Ginger stated a year or two ago the reason he was back touring with wildhearts was partly down to poor attendance at solo/side projects.

He also stated previously that the wildhearts should carry on without him......

Cant comment for the Belfast date but I think there has only ever been two Wildhearts/Ginger fans in Grimsby and one of them fucked off from there years ago..........me. So as much as I'd have loved it for Ginge to be playing to packed crowd i dont think it was likley

I went to that museum and you're right, it did. I think my dad did some work for the tourist board once, which can't be easy. 'Come to Grimsby! Because....er, well, just come and see. Please'

I know there were a few people talking at the Leeds gig and from the sounds of it Grimsby was going to be pretty quiet. Only about 3 people signed up to the facebook/last.fm event pages for it, and I'm guessing none of them are on here otherwise we would have heard something about it.

From Gingers Twitter he clearly loved it - :D

"I wish I could tour with my solo band for the rest of time. Post tour blues kicking in fiercely."

"Never had such a great tour, hence never had such huge post tour blues. Man, it sucks missing grown men."

This is obviously great to hear but then he poses,
"In an entirely hypothetical situation, and forced to choose: Solo or Wildhearts?"
which worries me a little..... :?
Interviewer - "So whats the secret of your longevity?"
Ginger - "Splitting up!"

"Bernard, its hot in the worm."

"School aint shit, I read it in a book"

if you look for his later posts he says its completely hypothetical and has no intention of splitting the band.......again, not those exact words mind but he says there's nothing to worry about.

ive stumbled around this twitter and found G telling somebody that if forced to choose he would have to choose Wildhearts -hyperthetically...but he has obviously enjoyed this tour so much i think he'll be wanting more..but maybe other countries?
anyway WH have a big following so thats bound to be his priority so dont think youve anything to worry about

Belfast gig was quality

not much else can be said :D

turn out if i remember wasnt the greatest, which was suprising as the adjoining bar was packed before the gig.

the problem i think was once a lot of WH fans knew there wasnt going to be any WH material they didnt bother going

their loss if that was the case.

Laika Dog were outstanding i thought
