star 06 Jan 2006 - Valor Del Corazon Reviews

By the sounds of it, the initial run of Valor Del Corazon has been hitting doormats (closely followed by CD players) all around the world over the last couple of weeks: hope you're all enjoying it.

Valor Del Corazon has had a great review from UK daily paper The Sun:

That The Wildhearts remain largely unheard of by the masses is one of the great travesties of British rock'n'roll.

Soaring melodies, contagious hooks, outrageous riffs and an annoying tendency to self-destruct are their trademarks, with the main man Ginger responsible for most of it. He's had more than his fair share of drama, has Ginge. And when his life fell to pieces late in 2004, he could have gone off the rails for good. Instead, he ended up in Willie Nelson's Texas studio... and sunk to new heights. Valor Del Corazon is a stunning double album providing a rollercoaster ride through the raw emotions of a relationship breakdown.

Easily his most personal work to date, this is an eclectic journey that deserves to be shared. Ballsy rock, soulful ballads, funk, grandiose epics and country all feature, but the one constant is an untouchable talent for writing a great tune and an almighty riff. Nineteen tracks. 19 gems. Pure tortured genius. MS"

star 22 Dec 2005 - Valor Del Corazon - misprint

The limited online run of Valor Del Corazon is now a rare limited edition misprinted version!

The copies our distributor got back from the manufacturers have the album name spelt wrong (Vaolr, not Valor) on the sleeve and a mystery v hovering on the back cover!

Everyone that ordered before 21/12/05 will receive this version as they have already been sent out.

You'll still get the same great album but you will now own a rare version of the CD inlay! The rest have been sent back to the manufacturer to get reprinted and will be ready and in stores from 9th Jan with the artwork as it was originally intended.

Ginger is furious about the cock up and has ensured that anyone that receives the misprint will be provided with a CD Booklet containing the original artwork upon request. Details of how to obtain this will be posted on the site and mailing list in early January, as we are we are still trying to establish whether it was the distributor or manufacturer who made the error.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

From
Sammy and the team

star 19 Dec 2005 - Valor Del Corazon - slight delay

There's been a minor delay to the limited pre-release of Valor Del Corazon; we have a message from Sammy Andrews with all the details:

"Hi everyone,

We're really sorry about the delay with the album.

Unfortunately it's out of our hands...Our distributor, Cargo, have not managed to turn it around in time to meet the 19th, due to the Christmas madness we were warned about... but they have assured us it will be out in the next few days and all those that have ordered WILL get their copy, Its just going to be a few days late.

No one will be getting it before anyone else as all shipments to the online stores take place at the same time... So as soon as they get it from the manufacturers, it'll be sent straight out to you guys.

We've done all we can to get this out for Christmas and if there was anything we could do to speed this up we would, but right now its out of our control. I promise you will have it as soon as it's done.

Just to clear up any confusion about when and where its going to be available from ...It will be available online in ltd numbers, till Jan 9th when you will be able to get it from all good record stores.

Thanks for being so patient, I assure you it's worth the wait!

Sammy Andrews

Additionally, Sammy is looking for UK based people to help with flyering and posters - please email at the usual address - website@thewildhearts.com with contact details / location etc. - we're thinking of setting up our own list of people who are willing and able to help with this kind of thing which should reduce the number of these kind of requests in the future.

star 02 Dec 2005 - Valor Del Corazon - promotion help

We've got a message from Ginger, looking for someone to help him promote Valor Del Corazon, read on for more details.

"I need to find an internet freak that would love to support Valor Del Corazon by working tirelessly, making every available internet network aware of its release. This will mean the the candidate cannot have a job, and must be fully versed in networking on the internet. They must work every day, as hard as their coffee is strong, from early December until Xmas. We will obviously pay them for their services. It will be a pleasure to pay a fan for helping me support an album that is going to give so many people pleasure."

If you'd like to help out, please mail us at website@thewildhearts.com with your contact details and any supporting information about how you think you can best help to promote the release and we'll pass them onto Ginger.

star 27 Nov 2005 - Message from Ginger - Valor Del Corazon

The album looks set to be a double. With almost 80 minutes of music crammed onto this new release the limits of the 74 minute CD are, sadly, too puny to contain this monolithic beast of a thing.

We have had a re-think and are going to give the album to HMV to handle in January, but the December 19th release will now also be available on Amazon (as well as other internet outlets, hopefully). Do not worry, the release date is still December 19th, but using this method we can sell to people outside of the UK also. We think that this is the fairest way of making this album available to fans and followers everywhere.

star 23 Nov 2005 - Valor Del Corazon - new Ginger album news

Hey there, been a while I know.

Been waiting for final confirmation of a whole bunch of legal stuff before letting everyone know about the release of Valor Del Corazon.

The release date is set to be January 8th, with a full launch available in HMV stores.

There will be a limited run of 1000 copies available, for die hard supporters of my music, to be released December 19th, again through HMV. This is to thank everyone for being so patient, and supportive throughout the whole year.

To say that I am proud of this album would be to cheapen its profound effect on me. This recording has enabled me to enlist the talents of an amazing array of people, who's support has made this album possible. This is the most adventurous work of mine so far, as well as the most personal.

Challenges like this come from the least expected of circumstances, and the experience ultimately makes us stronger and our lives richer. To be able to finally make available this most musically challenging and lyrically honest set of songs to you all is the final reward.

And I really hope you enjoy the living fuck out of it!

The album 'Valor Del Corazon', will feature 19 brand new songs, and is released through Round Records. Get out there, December 19th, and treat yourself to an early Christmas.

Thank you for your kindness and faith.

Ginger

star 24 Jan 2005 - Ginger Statement - Brides of Destruction

Here's that promised statement from Ginger in full: I have been offered the job playing second guitar, as well as helping write the new album, for The Brides Of Destruction. This does not mean that The Wildhearts are over, it just means that I am going through a traumatic time of my life and need a break from being the frontman/chief in charge.

My spirits are low and my performance as a lead singer would not be worth the admission fee, believe me. I cannot stop playing music, however, and the offer to join The Brides has come at a time where I desperately need to concentrate on something to help me cope, both mentally and emotionally. Tracii and the guys have been so kind to me, and I am more than grateful for their friendship and encouragement.

If everyone can kindly allow me the time to heal I would be grateful for the considerate approach to this most unfortunate of times for me. I trust I can count on the fans for support, as opposed to knee jerk opinions and malicious gossip.

Thank you, and never take advantage of the love that you have in your life.

Ginger
