If only I could find enough fans in the Boston/New England area too create a demand for a show up here! *starts looking up fares for Boston->PA buses*

Nuno...... you are so lucky!

How cool is this? Ginger finally realizing there's more to the USA than just New York. I wonder where else he'll go. I actually have the two days before and the two days after this off work, so Amanda and I are already discussing the possibility of coming down for this show. But we wonder, will he come even closer if we wait longer?

It's possible, but you might not want to bet the house on it. I think we have a unique situation with the Pittsburgh show. It's like the stars have aligned to make this possible:

1. Ginger spontaneously decided to stay in New York for a while.

2. Jake (The coolest guy ever!) from Rocks Off got Ginger a show at the Knitting Factory.

3. We already had a bit of acquaintance with Ginger---Spahr (of Brave New World Records in Pittsburgh) and I both met Ginger helping at the Gearhead Records SXSW showcase in 2004. Plus, Spahr set up a 24-hours-notice Wildhearts fill-in show when the Darkness canceled their Pittsburgh date back in 2004.

4. I was lucky enough to be able to squeeze 13 hours of driving into a Thursday to get to and from the Knitting Factory, at which show I took a chance and asked Ginger if he wanted to play another show. And he said YES!

5. Joel at the 31st Street Pub here in Pittsburgh is the greatest! He'll do whatever he can to support the ROCK!

6. Brave New World Records has been importing (and recommending) Wildhearts and Ginger records to Pittsburgh fans for the last ten years, so we have a sizable dedicated fan base to allow us to reasonably be able to finance a one-off show, without having to pay too much out-of-pocket.

I think it is possible for Ginger to play more shows in the US, but it's not that easy to align the stars.

I say, never miss a chance that fate brings you to see a live performer that you love. Life's too short!

PS Let me know if you decide to come down. I can give you Pittsburgh pointers, should you desire it.

you make a good point.... and it's not like we're spending on a private room or NYC hotels... this would only be $600 for us. One thing might be a deal-breaker, though.... when do you think Ginger will finish playing? A train leaves at 11:55 PM and if we miss that one we have to wait 24 more hours which means we arrive home a day later, and we'd both have to take an extra vacation day... which amanda doesn't have.

At the Knitting Factory, Ginger took the stage at 9:30 and we were in our car heading for the Holland tunnel by 11:05.

So if we get him on stage in Pittsburgh at 10 PM he should be done by 11:30.

The good thing is the train station is a quick trip from the 31st Street Pub.

According to Google Maps it's 1.6 miles in 3 minutes:

I wanted to go so badly.... I was even in the USA when it happened.Alas, it was not to be. Amanda would not let our 5-day weekend be dominated by travel. We did manage to go to Iowa (halfway to Pittsburgh) and pick up a car at an amazing price....

Wimp! We drove about 22 hours this weekend... it was the 16 more to Pittsburgh that would have killed us...

MW: I was in Clear Lake to pick up a 2003 Cadillac SLS that I bought on eBay. Amazing car, I tell ya. It was like pulling teeth to get Amanda to agree even to take this trip with me, let alone Pittsburgh. She's gone into hardcore "plan the wedding" mode where anytime we're doing anything that is fun or takes any amount of time, we are wasting time when we could be planning the wedding….

Anyway, we drove back through MSP to return our rental car that got us to Clear Lake, went to the zoo briefly, and hit White Castle. We really, really, really, really, really like White Castle. There are no White Castles in Canada, and the only 4 states that don't have one, are ND. SD, MT, and WY. We're already discussing the possibility of a White Castle road trip in the caddy with two friends, and we'll bring a cooler and buy a few crave crates and hundreds of Chicken Rings so that we can enjoy it for weeks to come.
